English news:

India-China clash: 20 Indian troops killed in Ladakh fighting

"China did not confirm any casualties, but accused India in turn of crossing the border onto the Chinese side."

--- Of course, poor, little, peaceful China was attacked & only defended itself. As always.

"Local media outlets reported that the Indian soldiers had been "beaten to death"
[...] Both sides insist no bullet has been fired in four decades, and the Indian army said on Tuesday that "no shots were fired" in this latest skirmish"

--- Now that's a relief! People were not killed by bullets. So, everything is fine.

"India has built a new road in what experts say is the most remote and vulnerable area along the LAC in Ladakh. And India's decision to ramp up infrastructure seems to have infuriated Beijing"

--- Of course that is outrageous. Only China is allowed to build roads in disputed territories.

Twenty Indian soldiers dead after clash with China along disputed border

"The incident occurred during a "deescalation process" underway in the Galwan Valley in the disputed Aksai Chin-Ladakh area"

--- De-escalation with Chinese characteristics.
The Guardian seems to have some more details:

India says 20 soldiers killed on disputed Himalayan border with China

"An Indian commanding officer was pushed and fell into the river gorge, sources said, leading to reinforcements being called and up to 600 troops from both armies fighting hand-to-hand in the area until late in the night, with several men from both sides falling to their deaths"

--- Lesson to be learned: Don't fight on narrow ridges.

Beijing coronavirus outbreak: travel restricted to tackle 'extremely severe' situation

"The outbreak is potentially embarrassing for Beijing, which had declared victory over the virus"

--- Not embarrassing at all, because it's all the foreigners' fault:

"state media appeared to push the idea that the virus had come from abroad"

--- Must be. Because emperor Xi fought & defeated the virus himself.

"Norwegian exporters have said China has halted salmon imports"

--- Logical. When the ugly US imperialists use European salmon to smuggle a deadly virus into China, we have to take measures.

China pressed on Mekong dams after record low water levels

"The extreme low flows showed the need for China to publish timely data from its dams so its neighbours can forecast bad conditions"

--- Just because China built dams doesn't mean these dams hold any water. Of course, China is innocent, as always.

Don’t Believe the China Hype

"Many apparent Chinese strengths—including education, manufacturing, and technology—aren’t quite as strong as many Americans believe"

--- Education definitely isn't much to write home about. & technology is still mostly copied. Manufacturing, I don't know; they at least have more than enough manpower.

"Beijing will continue to expand its political clout and beef up its military capabilities. But its grand ambitions could be hamstrung if its economic miracle falters"

--- Emperor Xi is working on that.

Deutsche Nachrichten:
