Great things about December.

Let's ignore the bad weather, freezing cold, surviving in a cold house and focus on the great things this month brings us.

1. December 5th

Saint Nicholas day. Hurray. Presents, mainly home made, kruidnoten, pepernoten, marzipan, chocolate letters

St. Nicholas comes and goes. We are some great presents richer.

Look what Saint Nicholas gave me. I will watch this one as soon as the holidays start.

2. December 21.

We have had our longest night and from now on the days will get longer. It is true we talk about minutes but it is Midwinter!
Time for (wal)nuts and to slow down. The school holidays start and I am so happy about that. No need to get out of bed at 4 am for about two weeks!

Time for father winter. I hope he moves on.

3. December 25 and 26.

I planned nothing. I will enjoy nothing. I will cook nothing and am grateful I have no visitors and need to go nowhere!

Let's keep it simple. This is our life. No one will rule or force us.

4. December 29 or 30 or 31?

I intend to bake "oliebollen" and "applebeignets". For the rest is will be common days. The only count down we have is going back to school again.
No lists with goals to set. We know what we go for, our intentions and it is " me first" for each of us.

I like your December 25th. I love most things Xmas ... the music ... the tree ... the decorating ... the presents ... but I usually do nothing on actually Christmas.... actually the one thing I do ... is I watch an Xmas movie with my kids ... while enjoying hot chocolate and whatever snacks we have in the house ... no big dinner ... no company ... just a quiet night at home .

This year might be different ... we will see .

Good idea to not do anything :)
I prefer to relax and chill at home during festive seasons although sometimes obligations are required to get through the day.
I wish you a wonderful and relaxing celebration, whatever it is that you choose to do :)
