A quick cat post…

I had been off on a trip to a place called Pondycherry in the South Indian region of Tamil Nadu, more on this in another post.

However, though I had left my cats back home some cat flavour arrived as I was browsing the book collection at the place I was staying at Pondy- Ala Villa Creole!!

That cat flavour was in the form of a story book based on a cat called Bob(: , I could not believe it, that I found a story book on a cat, it impressed me immediately because the protagonist of the story, cat Bob, was a ginger cat just like my pet cat Garu(: and I am going to buy this story book for sure!!

The book is - “The Street cat named Bob” by James Bowen. I managed to read one chapter from the story.

bobct.jpg

It basically is about a struggling man finding a confident cat at the basement of his flat. He eventually saw that this cat needed food, medical attention and love and took him home. Bob, the cat was content and really happy being with this man, more than this, I have not read. However, that cat changed the man’s life who was a recovering drug addict and the story is about that. It’s a lovely read though and the characters both human and cat are based on London.

Now, rewinding back to before I left for my Pondicherry trip and was packing.

Cat Mochu and Garu came around making themselves comfortable on my luggage, it’s already been scratched excessively by cat Mochu earlier.

Garu makes himself comfortable on closets, hard to find him sometimes, once he went inside a closet and we locked him in, only to let him out when he meowed from there.

I am not a dog person and it actually never suited me, though before Garu I had fostered a dog called Pun Bun, white dog.

Dogs, I find are hard to keep at a home like mine, they ask for a lot of attention, have to be taken for walks and that dog urinated at my flat premises when people were enquiring about that creature and this was after I walked her on the road for at least 30-40 minutes.

In my country, most people don’t clean up after their dogs, so I found this sign, which is very relevant, I reckon there is something called the poop scraper for these purposes.

Recently, I could not help but take a picture of this dog.

That dog came onto the roof out of the balcony to bark more prominently at another passing dog being taken for a walk.

I almost thought that dog would jump out onto the floor from the roof and be at close quarters with me, that never happened though.

Now, a personal confession, did cat Garu change my life, like it did for the man in the story?

Well, cat Garu too accepted me and seemed happy to live with me, just like cat Bob when I brought him home.

He came into my life, when I was going through a difficult phase, health problems, I had my wedding engagement broken off and the whole world around from my family, relatives pointed fingers on me. I was suffering, struggling and in definite pain and frustration deep inside.

. And somehow, I got cat Garu, which is like my child now, because I would have had a child of Garu’s age approximately if I did get married 3-4 years ago, start family and stuff.

My cat kutty is 3 yrs old, and people call me its mom, which is amazing.I always wanted to adopt a kid, but I am not in a position to do so, so maybe universe game me a kitten.

Here is Garuji’s message too to Indian public.

It said, adopt street cats, rather than buying breeded cats, because breeded cats or dogs for that matter are captured and kept for business purposes to mate and produce cute offsprings...ha… and they are sold for a big price, the price of a Persian cat is almost equal to the money spent on my Pondicherry vacation which is a lot, not worth it(Rs 10,000 -15000). My cat Garu has been non-judmental, adjusting, naughty, funny and animated.

Recently too someone said to me, don’t say no one loves you because cat Garu loves and accepts you as you are. Well, maybe it does, but it’s a good natured cat which I already said has a heart of Bitcoin.

It’s also a fact that cat Garu changed the life of cat Mochu if not mine for sure.

IMG20191118204926.jpg

Mochu was a rescued cat found by a kid actually. The kid’s family took care of Mochu till that cat recovered as it was hurt and fractured on the road, then they gave it to us. Mochu was an awfully natured noisy, selfish cat that I did not like initially. However, it was a playful cat, it seemed a little lacking in hygiene as well. It only liked to come around near you to eat lavishly in an uncouth fashion while not letting anyone touch it!! It had dared to scratch me several times as punishment to attempt touch that thing.

catgold.jpg

So such an awful, greedy, restless and clumsy cat was accepted by Garu, a testament to Garu’s generous heart and adjusting nature because adult cats don’t take to accepting another cat easily.

cf.jpg

There were instances when Mochu behaved really badly with Garu as well, as it got into an angry mood causing a cat fight, but Garu tolerated Mochu, forgave it for its really low charactor behavior, with frightening noises and pounces Mochu gave.

catmiss (2).jpg

Now, Mochu though he bit me for trying to catch him for a vaccination shot is a warmer cat that lets you touch, lift him as well. He talks to you too when in mood with meows. No scratches, he is gentle with his resistance to lifting him, he is also easy to lift, earlier that Mochu cat had a tummy and was heavy to lift, big change. Basically, Mochu has become a more tolerable, decent and gentlemanly pet to keep at home, earlier he was kind of a hideous creature.

moonwhite.jpg

Ha… reminds me of that My Fair Lady where a street based flower lady was changed into a fine princess material, ah, Audrey Hepburn ...now a movie on cat Mochu can be made - My Fair Cat, Mochu since it’s already having a really fair colour at least. Well, if a book can be written with a cat as the main character, why can’t a movie be made with a cat as its main character?. Food for thought, huh?

Enjoy this little animated cat movie for now.

Now, I like to end this post with a message I think all these cats convey - from that Bob, Garu to Mochu. Don’t buy pet, adopt a cat/dog that needs a home. All these cats above are street cats, with the exception of Mochu who was a little difficult cat to get used to you, other cats accepted the owner and their home. So, yup, if you have money, then invest in some nice promising crypto or even BTC instead of buying a breeded pet and get a stray pet instead.

I hope you liked my post, thanks for reading. And Mochu now, is a good pet, that is because of all the love and toleration he has received, I guess a little bit of love does work to change people and even cats like Mochu into a better version of themselves.
