Milk Challenge: Day 3 - Interesting Things To Do On Steem Today...
Once again it is great to see so many people participating in the Milk Challenge. The Milk Challenge was born in frustration looking at trending a few days ago and seeing almost nothing but Burn posts and SBD Potato Posts. Plus a few witnesses pitching their ideas.
The trending page was looking pretty unattractive.
The last couple of days it's looked a bit better, thanks to some curation groups.
In anycase, User-Engagement and Activity is a good thing in my opinion and I would rather see efforts that help with distribution and user retention through having fun and encouraging people to be active instead of bitching about what every one does.
I INVITE YOU TO MILK.
I think the idea that end-users should sit and write complicated posts every day really hurts with user retention. On the other hand casual posts do not have to be all over trending to create engagement and activity. Frankly Trending has historically been pretty terrible and I don't expect that to change, but I still think we can encourage activity.
So to participate in the challenge make one post a day and comment on 10. A few people are doing modified versions of this around their own schedules which is fine!
Use the tag #milkandtaters or #milkandtators
Make it fun, make it casual and don't expect to trend.
If you like engagement, give it.

So to the fun things on Steem, I love the "How Steem Impacted My Life Posts", there is usually one on trending and they have all been great. That is being managed by @theycallmedan
Also a lot of fun are some of the #2020Vision posts. Check out the tag.
As always you can post from a number of front-ends, or play Splinterlands!
Get out there and create some activity and have some fun... Add the other projects you are enjoying in the comments.
Also we are starting to see a little more price action when the market is moving... Let's not hit the bull market stagnant and depressing, get out there and create some fun and engagement.
Sometimes is cool to have easy posts to digest instead of complicated debates. ;)
Agree, I don't read a lot of long form posts, most people really aren't good enough writers to pull it off.
I find most of the really long posts are just wind bags that have a hard time getting to the point. :)

I try to engage with at least 5 steemians every day who I haven’t engaged with in at least a month, including new steemians. Then naturally I check some friends and favorites which usually rounds out to ten!
I guess I am also participating though I haven’t made a post about it
It would be nice if we could make an option to voluntarily deny trending page for stuff like potato and other things we think don’t belong there. Not everyone will use it but we can encourage some of the more spammy looking posts that are done by people who get along with the community. Maybe a 5% reduction in spam that way
Well I have mixed feeling about hiding what is real. If most of the votes go to burning, I feel like it is dishonest to hide it.
I mean the poster can opt to keep it off trending. I don’t know who runs the potato but if they have the platforms growth in mind I don’t think they will mind

Great stuff! Sorry about no PYPT curation post this past week. Mind preoccupied with the Redfish Contest. Just wish I had more entries. Here it is hump day and plenty of support from the overall STEEM community, but very few entries! May have to do like @theycallmedan and extend the deadline for another week.

It seems this challenge is taking off, I see a lot of people agreeing with it.
We do need more fun, not all post have to be travel-logs that would go well in any magazine, (some of those are just amazing post), but I also like the simple my backyard stories or views from people just showing us different views. One of the nicest things about the steem block chain is that unlike YT, I do not need to live in a country to see what my fellow countrymen have to say. I was reminded of that in my post yesterday, when a reader got the Not available in your region response from YT. I can see backyard views of England, Spain, Kenya, Nigeria, and points all over the world with out very much censorship.
3-speak, and d-tube need to add that simple little item into their advertising efforts."Tired of that *Not available in your region" response from YT, come over to 3-speak, and speak your mind to the entire world not just your region.
I agree, I don't look at many travel blogs, but I know many do.
I do like to talk about crypto, but fully acknowledge many don't.
I don't think it is good for user adoption to set some weird standards on high quality posts! :)

Oh I'm sure they have thought of it, and if not they will. It is happening more and more often on Youtube Videos, or maybe I just notice it more often because I see more regional exclusive YT vids on steem because I interact with people in lots of different countries. But you are right @theycallmedan, (I think he is one of the @threespeak leads), he does seem to be the man with the get the message out there plan anyways.

Since you are trying to put some fun it the steem .... have you thought about something like steemian of the year award :) We can have more categories nominations, voting etc .... should be fun and people will enjoy some recognition from the community :)

Seems like the power play by the large groups really killed most people joining them.
It's either you are apart of a group of you are forgotten. So many people here struggle.
Yeah what happened to things being fun. And what's with the greedy haters thinking they are getting ahead and able to blast the little guys with flags.
I stead of making a committed community? It's made a very stratified one.
