Don't Confuse NewSteem with EasySteem

avatar

NewSteem started as a Marketing Campaign and turned into a paradigm shift.

I never said it was easy Steem, I didn't say it solves all of our problems.

An attitude of Pride in what we do can certainly change things. A willingness to allow the new financial incentives to take hold can change things. Using both upvotes and downvotes to curate and fight abuse can change things.

Allowing the change in active management at SteemIt Inc, to be a part of our success, but also not counting on them to carry the load can change things.

Allowing funds to start to grow for use on community projects through the SPS can change things.

Giving people the ability to build their own tokens and tribes via Scot tokens and new apps can change things. It can also add multiple layers of incentive and that can certainly change things.

Adding affordability in hardware to our witnesses and exchanges via MIRA can absolutely change things.

All of those things together are powerful changes, but the PEOPLE and stakeholders of Steem are who will have to do the work.

We will have to work through many challenges including learning how to give and accept downvotes gracefully, no longer allowing abuse, giving community onbaorders and curation teams resources all of those things will have to be done by the community.

OldSteem is Dead- We can't go back in time.
Easy Steem where everyone rains money on you, just how you like it... Is impossible...
NewSteem is here and it is up to us what we make of it!

Get onboard this is NewSteem. Stop living in a world that no longer exists.

OldSteem is already dead,

It's time for NewSteem and that means work. It isn't EasySteem.

Going forth with the NewSteem as a part of the community. What is EasySteem? I have always worked for mine :)

As long as NewSteem remains as clunky as OldSteem, with minor improvements on the distributions side, I'm all for it.
We gotta keep dem noobs out ;)
Can't make it too easy to use.

Many of the tribes can create onboarding, moderation, and even help desks.

This is NewSteem. It isn't done. The noobs are welcome if they want to be a part of building a thing. If they can't figure it out maybe it is too early for them.

I'm obviously trolling - a bit. It shouldn't be too early for noobs. As long as it is, this product isn't ready. We need to be aware of this.

That's completely false. The Internet was new once. I worked there. Computers were new once. I worked there too.

Amazon was new once. (I never worked there)

We are building, we will be building, you don't wait until something is done to tell people where you are going.

The internet was new once. Limited, slow, and ugly. But many features were rather obvious and intuitive. Like IM, email, forums, news. This sucked users in. Limitless money during the dotcom era to build out infrastructure probably also played a big part.
Depending on how far back you want to go, there was never too much technical expertise required to use it.

I feel like Steem has made crypto more accessible to a broader audience beyond tech nerds and gamblers. But it is still important to familiarise yourself with technical details to a degree that can be a bit much - to regular folk.

I think when marketing we have to be careful with potentially confusing statements like Easy Steem. I understand you mean it as "not easy money" which is great. However, non-Steemers may not think of Steem as money and will see it as Steem Platform (blockchain not currency) is not easy and therefore difficult to use. I understand the currency is technically $STEEM.

Steem is easy and simple to use, but not make...

I said it is not easy steem

This is where I may have to depart with your vision of new Steem, but that's cool with me. I hope to see various front ends with various degrees of complexity with some as simple as Twitter and others as complicated as old school MS-Dos. There is a trade-off between functionality and simplicity, but there is also a tradeoff between ease of use and adoption.

I understand there may be some advnatages to Steem not being easy, I thought that was limited to easy money, or not giving up, or a state we want to move past. Maybe I'm missing your point. I do hope to eventually understand it as I read more and more about your ideas.

I think we Should work towards better, slicker easier products. I'm just saying we don't have to wait until those are finished to market and onboard.

It is perfectly fine with me that some disagree. I have never seen a great marketing plan that someone didn't hate.

I have a ton of respect for @tarazkp and we agree on many things, but not NewSteem. :)

Ideas make people talk, it is great when people debate and talk... That means they are saying your name. :)

It shouldn’t be easy as nothing easy has value and would not be worth staking for the future. #newsteem

@jerrybanfield is raining money these days. He shut down his bid-bot and now is offering free 100% upvotes with his 500K sp. He's offering this to 4000 steemers.

If you are interested, go to this post:
https://steemit.com/steem/@jerrybanfield/67-4000-automatic-daily-upvote-spots-claimed

And sign up for Jerry's newsletter. You will get one upvote each day by taking this action, remaining active, and staying subbed to him.

I'm getting this vote now, and very grateful. Hoping some of the other whales will also spread the love post-fork.

Thanks for the info, I'll let other accounts that need to build take advantage of that.

He's offering this to 4000 people, @whatsup. I do not think he will get that many anytime soon. You can always, drop off if he gets to his limit. I'm certain he will announce such a success.

I am very interested to see if he CAN get to his limit. And secondly interested to see if any other whales/orcas do something similar.

I'm thinking he is counting on curation revenue to rain on him. Not sure, but watching this like a hawk.

What is the name of his bot account that is doing the upvotes? I think I just got one from it...mangos?

No - mangos is something else, @nickyhavey. It will come to your post randomly - do not know why.

Jerry uses his own name. If you confirmed and did not get a vote he might be overwhelmed. If he got 100 people in a day - that would be a lot of work.

Ah OK, well I thank mangos for their upvote then 😁

I think the time frame said 24-48 hours si just gotta wait for it all to be set up I guess. Can imagine a flood of people going towards it and signing up 🙂

He (Jerry Banfield) is flirting with WEKU. He made a video interview with them a while back.

I believe that we will succeed - I now check for what I vote. And I try to spread the need for better posts myself. Do not vote for ugly posts - comment (your opinion, even a negative one is very important)

You said a mouthful! Hard work is the only way one can get ahead. Be it manual labour or, using one's noggin. Neither is easy and require stick-to-itness (is that even a word?).
