What is the Curation Vote Sweet Spot?

That's the question. To be more clear, what is the amount you need to vote in order to maximize your return on that vote.

I have always heard that if you don't vote .004 then you will not profit because you are only creating dust. I'm not sure if that was ever true but since I tend to curate a lot I wanted to make sure that each vote I gave out was at least $.004.

Having said that, what do the "smart" people think the $ amount of a vote must be to profit from curation?

I'm excited for the changes but feel like the downvote pool will be abused and drive people from steem. However, something needs to be done to attract people so I'm ok with the new 50/50 rule.

Depends on your stake, who has voted before you, and who will vote after you.

I'd be interested to create a rule of thumb for accounts of 1000sp , 2000sp etc. It would be handy to know. I don't plan to race around and curate but I'd like figure out a general gameplan for surfing my feed and voting.

I don't know about people leaving- Steemit is fantastic place to be. But this 50/50 rule does not seem to be much of an incentive - nothing will seem to be much if Steem is not priced above USD1- 18 cents is not very appealing when I have seen Steem at much higher rates.

It will get worse VERY FAST if some new alternative platform for incentivized content makes an Entry. Minnow thoughts don't count for much so let's chin up and

I haven't considered the downsides of the 50/50 split. I think we are used to the rewards the way they are but I remember when I first started and had now following. Earning from just voting would have seemed fantastic. Even now I don't get real engagement. I follow the @backscratcher trail and it has been great for me because I get votes from a trail of 900,000sp.

I'll have to ponder the 50/50 thing more. My immediate concern is downvote abuse.
