Celebrating Good Business! πŸ‘Œ "Onward and Upward" with PALNet! πŸ‘

(Edited)

With unchanging and continuous time challenges, it was only yesterday that I was finally able to follow-up on recent postings around the announcement of some major advances in PALNet - by far the largest Steem blockchain community.

Having now experienced some of it, I thought I would drop what I was working on to write a post about it. Can't pass up the opportunity to "celebrate success!" 😊

You might be thinking, "What does this have to do with good business, @roleerob?" My short answer is, well, it's my post and I can write about whatever I choose ... πŸ˜‰

Seriously, I think the PALNet team exhibits many of the great attributes associated with good business practices and I hope you'll take the time to read this post about why I am saying this.

My Brief History with @aggroed

Emphasis on the word "brief," as there isn't much to it, as he doesn't "know me from Adam" ...

While I have heard of him off and on, since beginning my "journey" on the Steem blockchain (May 14th, 2018), I became particularly focused on what @aggroed had to say during the great "dust up" over the news @ned was powering down and moving his massive SP stake off of the Steem blockchain.

As that is not the point of this post, I won't say more here, other than a key concern of his and many others was the failure of SteemIt Inc. to deliver on the promise of SMTs before their projected deadline came and went (and, as far as I know, still not operational) ...

  • Note: For those who may have missed the "fun," I think @aggroed showed great "lead by example" effort to diplomatically reach out to @ned, as well as others, to try and "keep it together" on our Steem blockchain. Again, many, many posts written about this elsewhere ...

Image Source: @aggroed's excellent "Tribes" post!

Rather than simply "moan and groan" and subsequently do nothing more about it, @aggroed led a team of devs to establish an SMT-like substitute - Steem-Engine. I am far from an expert on it and there have been many posts written about the subject, since it was first introduced.

From my perspective, what it represents conceptually is the great business practice of not "bringing a problem" without also "bringing a proposed solution." Going well beyond the latter, @aggroed and team didn't just make a proposal.

They "brought it to life!"

Again, while not the point of this post, for those of my dear readers who may not have heard of it, I would recommend clicking on the image above and reading @aggroed's vision for what "tribes" might come to represent on our Steem blockchain!

Summing it up and briefly putting it all together, PALNet and Steem-Engine are actively and relentlessly at work demonstrating what the Steem blockchain can become. If you haven't already, I highly recommend you check it out!

Long an advocate for "put your money where your mouth is," here is my documentation for taking care of one of our most important responsibilities on the Steem blockchain, voting for our -all-important Witnesses. I have just completed voting the ~ 13.9 MVests over which I have control, in support of @aggroed:

Launch of PALCoin

The very first delegation I made on the Steem blockchain, once I understood what a delegation even was, went to the @minnowsupport account of PAL. I wanted to do my small part to help with their upvote support of all of our fellow Steemians who, like me, were just getting started.

As a result, I learned I was "due" some of the new PALCoins! Hmmm, I did not expect that, but ... Hey, sounds good to me!πŸ‘

Image Source: @minnowsupport's "How To" PALCoin post!

Now ... How was I to go about getting them? After checking for several days on my Steem-Engine wallet and finding none, I finally went to the PALNet server on Discord and got some help.

As easy as "1-2-3:"

  1. Log-in to your account on Steem-Engine and, in your wallet, click on the icon shown above, to claim your PALCoins.

  2. When your PALCoins appear in your wallet, click on the lock icon shown above to stake them.

  3. There is no 3rd step, it's that easy ... 😊

While there are some legitimate frustrations often expressed about the difficulty of using various aspects of the Steem blockchain, the combo of Steem-Engine and KeyChain is hard to improve upon and still meet all of the needed security requirements.

I love it!

  • Note: I am a big advocate for using the Brave browser. Works great with all of these apps, like KeyChain, and leaves us free of the "grip" of the Googles of the world ...

Closing this part of my post with huge "shout out" to PALNet - they have allowed us to continue to accrue PALCoins by continuing to use our "condenser" of choice. My favorite "interface," for some time, has been SteemPeak and I am very happy with it. So much so, had this not been a feature of PALNet's handling of their PALCoin launch, I am not sure I would've made the switch ...

Not to worry, as the PALNet team are truly "team" players, when it comes to building for the future of our Steem blockchain! πŸ‘ πŸ‘

Again, while I am "in here" and wanting to take care of some very important related business, here is my documentation for having just completed voting the ~ 13.9 MVests over which I have control, in support of @yabapmatt - the "engine" behind KeyChain:

Peace, Liberty, and Abundance (PAL) Server on Discord

Here is the great "hangout" of the PAL team and where you can find all sorts of help and info on moving forward with PALNet.

I stopped in to ask questions on what I needed to know about PALCoins and was helped literally within seconds by @crimsonclad and @r0nd0n. And back in this morning to ask questions about the source of PALNet images, I again was helped within seconds by @juliakponsford and @crimsonclad.

Perhaps one might say "great customer service" doesn't apply here, but as stated above ... it's my post and I can write about whatever I choose ... πŸ˜‰ You can't ask for more or better help.

And I know they didn't just suddenly "show up" after finding out "this is where the action is" on the Steem blockchain. No! They have been faithfully and consistently helping people since I started out "in here" in May 2018.

Due to this investment of their time and effort, it is my understanding these key people (I do not know their account names ...) are getting a large share of the initial PALCoin distribution. Not a problem for me whatsoever, they are well deserving of it!

________________________

Quick tip: In trying to become better at helping myself, so as not to represent time and trouble to these good people, I learned the following commands in the #playingwithbots channel are helpful:

  • $bal PAL - Let's you know what the PAL balance is in your wallet.
  • $power ?...? (<= Steem account name) - Let's you know your current STEEM stats
  • $power ?...? pal (<= Steem account name) - Let's you know your current PAL stats

Early on in my "journey" on the Steem blockchain, I voted in support of @followbtcnews for one of our all-important witness positions. If, in addition to those shown above, there are any other witnesses related to PALNet which I should also consider, I'd welcome an "assist."

So ... With another post written, "onward and upward" into our Steem blockchain future with PALNet! πŸ‘

Closing

The essential foundation for good business is it must be mutually beneficial. If the recent developments around the great PALNet community don't meet this criteria, then I don't know what does. I have only touched on some of it here. I would encourage you to check it out for yourself!

It is nice to be able to write an upbeat post about "goings on" around the Steem blockchain and the future appearing a bit brighter, as a result.

There's an old saying about their being three types of people:

  1. Those who watch what happens.
  2. Those who wonder what is happening.
  3. And ... Those who make things happen!

Hopefully my fellow Steemians can agree with me that @aggroed and his team of close associates are clearly in this last category. And that the future of the Steem blockchain is brighter because of their efforts.

More power to them in the weeks and months to come. May they enjoy many happy returns for their efforts. Thank you for investing your time in reading my post. I’d love to hear any feedback you may be inspired to provide.

Until "next time," all the best to you for a better tomorrow, as we all work together to build up our Steem Communities and increase the value of the Steem blockchain! πŸ‘ 😊

Respectfully,
Steemian @roleerob

This is the 4th post I read about palnet. I noticed the use of the tag first with Appics users. I have no idea how long it exists and see no difference with steemit Inc or WEKU.

Most of what you are writing about sounds like insider information, which means I have no clue what you are talking about or if Palnet is better.

Since I am an.only mobile user with also a very slow connection I don't have many options if it comes to posting.

It is great posts on the steem are shared on palnet if the tag is used but for the rest it is unclear to me how it works and it sounds as if my steemit SP is also used if I vote on palnet (I vote the same post twice?)

Discord is hard for me to enter and I noticed many only give information over there.

My phone its memory is at its end too so I can no longer update.

Perhaps I try brave again if I can delete somethin else. I did for a while but did not see the benefit of it.

By the way: it is hard to sign up and get the tokens if you are a mobile user. Even if you use the desktop version the lines are written through each other.

Good morning (here) @wakeupkitty! You ask excellent questions. My help is going to be pretty limited, in answering them, as "I don't know, for sure" ... would be the response to several of them.
For example, while I have heard of WEKU, I have never used it.

And it is clear you have some difficulties with the limitations of what you have available to you for accessing the Internet. Those are not trivial problems. I do not pretend to be a technical wizard with ideas for helping you around them.

And on this ...

"By the way: it is hard to sign up and get the tokens if you are a mobile user. Even if you use the desktop version the lines are written through each other."

... not sure what you are experiencing this with or why. Are you referring to using the desktop version of Brave? If so, perhaps the minimum system requirements listing will give you an idea of whether or not your desktop computer has the resources to run it successfully.

There are many others far better suited to answering for and explaining some of the "inside" details about PALNet and the launch of PALCoin than I, as I only learned about it yesterday. I intend to learn more about it, as my time permits.

My primary reason for writing this post was to "celebrate success." It was welcome news to me on what this hopefully represents for the future of our Steem blockchain. I am impressed (and I am not easily impressed ...) with the team working on it and that is the basis of my hope.

My suggestions are to follow the news on PALNet's @minnowsupport account. On it, you will find many detailed posts about all of this. Along with learning about more of our fellow Steemians, whose posts you may also wish to read.

Sorry I could not be of more help to you @wakeupkitty. I do want to help, as much as I can. Until we "meet" again, all the best to you for a better tomorrow!

Completely agree @minnowsupport along with PAL Team, they have been giving fair updates regularly, always assisting new arrivals, very positive approach.

Gladly support this new effort in keeping Steem going in the right direction using Steem Engine.

i just rolled on over to see what you been up to! and what a great read this was on the palnet saga. It does pit a lot into perspective! I have been struggling to claim my free coinns but finally got it right - was a typical ID10T or users error lol. I'm looking forward to seeing what pals brings along in the near future!

Also, I hope you doing well!..

Glad you enjoyed it @mimismartypants. I just "call it" the way I see it, including writing in the past about some real concerns re: our Steem blockchain. So ... Quite happy to write a post about one of the real bright spots in the last little while.

With you and many others, hoping for the best. Thanks for stopping by @mimismartypants. Hope all is well with you and yours as well, as I imagine your little princess is keeping you hopping! πŸ˜‰

Dear @roleerob

I just visited your account to see if you published anything new only to realize that you seem to give up on Steemit? :(

Hope you're not done with this platform yet.

Yours,

No sir, I am not done yet. I am on vacation with my beloved to see our "eastern" (in eastern U.S.) children. I set aside my Steem activities, until I am back home.

Nice to find you have not given up on me. Recently, I've made references and comments to you, all of which have gone unanswered. 😯 Not like you ...

Until "next time" my friend, all the best to you! πŸ™‚
