I am not sure why it is important who Maria's ancestor is, what is important to me is that Jesus was born from her through the Holy Spirit. Joseph on the other hand was a descendant of David as can be seen in Matthew 1.

Personally, I don't see how the lineage of Mary is relevant to a christain. Knowing that of Jesus is important because it was prophesised, and it is helpful to see that prophesy come to fulfillment otherwise, there is no need to even bother about his geneology. The most importà nt thing is the role anyone played.
