Happy Big Rock Day!

Early or late any day is good
for a boulder date!

Down by the Kasilof river in Alaska.

shasta2020jan18th47boulders2io.jpg

Early spring after the snows melted
the river is extremely low.

shasta2020jan18th47boulders3io.jpg

We have never seen it this low.
Usually it runs high along the bank.

Leaning tree and bridge two different views.

This is near where I found
the stacked stones.

Frozen!

Sub zero temps this month
of January the river is now
completely frozen over.

You have plenty of builders in Alaska!! Send me some for my garden! I want to build a mountain of bolders!

There sure are quite a few boulders around here, if I learn how
to make the right sound, tune, some will come flying your way! :-)

These are some beautiful river boulders! Great photos. I am reading a novel called The Great Alone by Kristen Hannah and it takes place in a fictional town near Homer, in your part of the world, so I think of you often.

Thank you @melinda010100! Was rare for us to see them so good in
the river, I wonder if it will be so low this coming spring, if so we'd like
to explore more of the banks! :-)
What is the name of the fictional town near Homer? Curious if it might
be a name I recognize.

Kaneq is the name she created for her fictional town. I loved the book.

I wonder why this happened, because usually in the spring the taiga rivers are the most full-flowing...
And this is my Sunday boulder:

It was very odd last spring, the other rivers also were real low.
Been looking at them for around twenty two years now and that was a first.
Asked some folks and they didn't seem to perplexed about it, as if it was
a normal thing. Did not look normal at all lol.

Love your ancient smiley face boulder!! :-)

June and July are our best for ☀ summer months.
Sometimes parts of May and August are included! :-)
