A Couple for Boulder Sunday

avatar

My first time contributing to this clever tag created by @shasta. My #BoulderSunday includes a color image and a second in black and white. Which do you prefer?

Oh what a wonderful first boulder post @kunschj! :-)
I love both the photographs and the blacktop name!!
Really beautiful the dark rocks with the blue sky and the
bw with the look of perhaps a cloudy day.
Fort Bragg is a great place, was there many years ago.
There was a old left hand drive logging road lol
Awesome to see some old stomping grounds!
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks @shasta. I really appreciate your kind comment. I think my wife and I are going to have to make another trip to Fort Bragg. There is so much to see and we barely scratched the surface.

I prefer the one in color on this shot because the brilliance of the blue water sets off the rocks nicely.

The tones, the shapes, Normalland even the shadow and light.

Normally, I like black and white to do these things, but, in this case, I think the color does it better.

Thank you for that thoughtful critique and for the generous tip. I'm trying to work on B&W, keeping details in the shadows and the whites, and I thought this was a good image to play with, but the blues do make a nice contrast with the rocks. Thanks again!
