Yeah, there was a promise the premine would only be used for the promotion of the platform and not for the personal financial gains of ned and friends.
So, where were the witnesses when ned used that to delegate to his friends (and/or hot girls he wanted to have sex with!) and exploited it again and again? Where were the witnesses when @ned withdraw a large amount of steem without giving any explanation to what happened to it (presumably drugs and ladyboy hookers)? Where were the witnesses with the dlive fiasco, where essentially part of the ninja mine stake was milked like never before and ended up funding a project that is not on steem anymore, essentially showcasing how incapable steem inc is at using that ninja stake at all?
Where were the witnesses back then? Dunno where they were, but I do know they didn't do shit other than theoretical discussions. And of course getting that sweet witness rewards.
Sorry, but when a promise is broken again and again and again and you turn a blind eye you essentially make that promise invalid.
And now Justin happens and unlike ned his actions indicate that maybe he will replace the current witnesses to proceed with the swap or whatever.
Now suddenly, ideology kicks in. Now suddenly you want to protect the blockchain. I am sure a minority of them does feel that way.
As for the rest, excuse me but imo the only reason your ideology kicked in is because you felt threatened. Threatened that you might actually need to get a real job or something. The majority of you are just like Justin. You dont give a shit about the chain. You just like your money. AND ITS OKAY. Just be honest with it.
Hopefully I am wrong. I love my money too and I want this place to thrive. But I am not convinced at this moment about the motives of the majority. And in the long run... motives do matter.
