Carnivore 75 Hard: Day Eight

After today, I want to make getting off of coffee a priority. I'm realizing I drink way too much of the stuff and it's really not making me feel the best. My plan is for the rest of October to go down to one cup per day and then quit after that. I drink enough of it that I don't really want to do it cold turkey. I've done that before and it involves headaches that I can maybe ease into if I do it this way.

In the spirit of making positive life changes and this Carnivore 75 Hard challenge in general, I've decided to give up playing a blockchain-based collectible card battle game that I've been pretty obsessed with for a while called Splinterlands, or formerly known as Steem Monsters. As I have alluded to in prior posts, I've got some unfortunate things going on in my personal life and I think I need to spend more time being present in my life and less of it immersed in a game.

Just the other day, I received a copy of Dr. Ken Berry's acclaimed book Lies My Doctor Told Me. I could be reading that or learning something new instead of just playing a game. Even though the game is technically a way of earning income, I've actually got a way to make income from the game without playing at all. That's a win-win situation if you ask me!

Anyway...

Today, I ate basically as soon as my 16 hour fasting period was over. I even pre-heated the oven to make bacon prior to it being over. I'm especially hungry this time and it's probably because I have Fridays off of work and my body knows I'm at home and have all sorts of tasty food in the refrigerator. I made a 6 egg omelet and some bacon for the first meal of the day. That was a lot of calories right away, but I've got a show later on tonight and will be up late and probably needing more energy than on a typical night, anyway.

To make it, I lined a cast iron griddle with foil and baked it in the oven. It worked out pretty well, but it actually took a lot longer than normal because cast iron is so much thicker than anything else. It would probably be beneficial to pre-heat it at least a little bit next time.

Stella and I went on a longer walk today than the past couple of days. About 41 minutes and 1.9 miles. That should hopefully tire her out at least a little bit. It was lovely out there this afternoon. Early this morning it was a little chilly, but the sun came out and there's a nice crisp autumn breeze.

Dinner once again was burger patties, cooked in the cast iron skillet and topped with Tillamook medium cheddar. I never get sick of it!

  1. The best kind of autumn weather.
  2. Playing a show tonight with some pretty good bands. It's in town so at least I won't have to be up as late as when we travel for shows.
  3. I had a very nice relaxing day off of work today. I got some stuff around the house done, but I also took the time to just relax after a hectic week.
