Getting Deleted for Spreading Historical Facts on Reddit

avatar

A handful of months ago I discovered a subreddit called r/Outside, where people can converse about life on Earth, from the angle of this being a F2P MMORPG (free to play, massively multiplayer online roleplaying game) called Outside.

As you may know, I've been working on a book (tentatively) called Real Life: The Role-Playing Game (link is to a working text document - feel free to comment), so you can imagine how excited I was to find a whole bunch of people (640k members currently) looking at the world through this lens!

Unfortunately, it seems that my ideas are too radical for the mods, as my replies to other people, and my post when I try to share bits of the book, keep getting deleted :-/ It's not even like I'm diving into any conspiracy theories, I haven't touched on anarchism in any direct way, or really said anything that far outside what would be considered "normal."

The funny thing is that I get the same "reason" each time... and it doesn't even seem remotely relevant to anything I've posted. Here's my most recent comment, on a post titled AAAAAAA WHY IS THE TUTORIAL SO LONG, and just below that you'll see a screenshot of my "you just got deleted" message.

There actually is no tutorial. No official one at least.

It's just whatever your "parent" players introduce you to, plus the process of forever learning more about the game on your own (mostly through experience, though there are a LOT of resources out there too.)

Unfortunately, a bunch of the rule-breaking, PVP-loving clans, calling themselves "government" tricked (forced) other players about 150 years ago to send their "offspring" players to their brainwashing camps... and many are still doing it.

Luckily, in the last decades, there has been a HUGE increase in the popularity of un-schooling, peaceful parenting, and models like the Montessori school.

If you're interested in the history of this scam, pulled off by some cheating power gamers you've probably already heard of, I recommend exploring the "Prussian Education System," "Rockefeller and the General Education Board." Here's a quote from the Board itself:

"In our dream, we have limitless resources and the people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hand. The present educational conventions fade from their minds; and, unhampered by tradition, we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive rural folk. We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning, or men of science. We have not to raise up from among them authors, editors, poets or men of letters. We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians nor lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen, of whom we have an ample supply… The task we set before ourselves is very simple as well as a very beautiful one, to train these people as we find them to a perfectly ideal life just where they are…"

Most don't even realize that when they started this scam to trick players into playing as NPCs, the "parents" were so against it that the "government" clan sent in their armed soldiers to take those kids to their new camps (Massachusetts), or that another clan, the KKK, were some of the biggest proponents of this model, on the American server.

John Taylor Gatto is a player who has covered much of this quite extensively in his books. He knows from the inside, having been part of the "Teachers' Union" clan for some decades, including being named the NYC teacher of the year for 3 years, and NY state teacher of the year for one.

And this here is the response that I got, to those exact words:

The really funny thing is that there are literally comments below about people praying they can quit the game. Literally talking about wishing they were dead. None of those comments were flagged or anything though, of course.

And to make things even funnier, right after this experience, I decided I would simply post one of the sections from the book, and a really tame one at that, all about living your own life and respecting consent. Guess what happened literally the exact instant it posted...

Remember when Reddit used to allow conversation?

It's one of those tricky things, this particular sub-reddit is one of the only places I've found people having conversation about life on Earth from this particular angle... which I'm writing an entire book about. Of course, most of them are people who are just depressed, asking things like "does it get better?" (which gives me some opportunity to share things that have helped me deal with lifelong suicidal depression), but there are the rare gems of insight into reality as well. And certainly plenty of great metaphors & examples to help with my work.

Probably the same reason why I cannot create an Instagram account, not even with a fake email: We are on a list of dissidents and all major social medias have their own ways to deal with that. Who knows...

Ya, that certainly seems possible/probable.

Thankfully, when I made a much shorter post, with very little details, just letting people know about the book project, that one got left up... and I've gotten a huge flood of responses & support from people :-)
