Steem and Chinese Interests

I often ask myself: why does Chinese government lists Steem as one of the best blockchains out there?

And don't tell me it's because of how great our blockchain is or will be (and it is and will be), because every move they make has a goal, and it's often not in plain sight until it's too late to do anything about it.

Remember how most of us FOMOed at first when China said from the top level they've been working with blockchain technology for a few years, is not against blockchain and want their own crypto? And how bitcoin soared?

Now that they said they don't like crypto space, only blockchain tech, we can see the effects on bitcoin and the entire market.

But I'm still unclear about their interest in Steem. Do they want to create their own Steem, like they have their own Google, and soon their own crypto?

Or do they like Steem because it's a way to push all dissidents in one place and easier to keep an eye on them?

We shouldn't be glad when politicians make (unexpected) gifts. Especially from totalitarian countries. They are often poisoned.

Long live Steem, regardless and even despite any obscure influences!

There is already a Chinese knockoff of STEEM. It's called Weku.
I can only surmise that they like the ability to turn their 50-Cent-Party into an economic weapon by monetizing the way they echo-chamber off of each other. If they could turn each "like" that they give to each other into money with an "upvote for upvote" circle of peoiple liking each other's propaganda articles, and then exchange that money for, say, US dollar tethers (and then US dollars), it would be a powerful way to disrupt the US economy (or the economy of any nation they wish to target).

My lack of interest or curiosity in this platform doesn't mean it can't have a considerable impact with a proper wind blowing in their sails.
