One thing I like about easily being able to set beneficiaries through steemit.com now

... is that in the past I used to be careful with what I posted, not just cause of the big amount of vote trails I have on my account as you may have noticed they are somewhere in the 5-6 hundreds and even though the majority have really small vote-weight behind them I was discouraged to just link whatever interesting I stumbled upon that day and wanted to share with my followers.

Declining post rewards was also not effective because that just meant everyone auto-curating my posts would be penalized as well. Of course there was the option of sending post rewards directly to @null by using another front-end but somehow, no matter how great the other front-ends are and have been I've always been stuck using Steemit.com. Being able to place @steem.dao as beneficiary now feels a lot more like I'm at the same time helping the currency and ecosystem grow in the future while being a more active poster and sharing whatever is on my mind that time. At the same time using Steemit.com without adblock up I feel like I'm helping Steemit the company with their bills.

Looking forward to see how condenser will evolve, especially with the upcoming communities feature and everything that entails. I really miss notifications on Steemit.com and the viewcounter, hoping to see those make a comeback soon!

That's all I wanted to say really, looking forward to share more things in the future and I encourage others to do the same by sacrificing whatever they feel their effort was not worthy in the post to @steem.dao. Check out @abh12345's recent post on beneficiaries sent to @steem.dao aside from the daily 10% and it may encourage you to do the same even more.

Also didn't really have anything of importance to share today, just that and this Piano cover I stumbled on Reddit which completely changed the Britney Spears hit song: "Baby one more time".

Force of habit but I write on steemit.com most of the time.

Did you think there would be more accounts sending a little to the DAO? I was a little surprised their were less than 50 accounts who'd chosen to bene.

Yeah I was really hoping that to be the case, especially those planning on purchasing bid bot votes. Hopefully we'll see more of that in the future and at the same time less downvotes on those who do and depending on the content at the same time. If that means more shitposts as long as you send some to the dao then I'm all for it.

So how exactly do you set up a beneficiary & what does it do for you?

It's here in the advanced settings right before you publish a post. It merely says that a percentage of your post rewards will be sent to @steem.dao or another account which curators can then see when they mouse over they click on the post payout button here:

so it can affect your curation (depending on content/message/etc) but doesn't penalize curation rewards the way declined payouts would.

Oh okay, very interesting thanks!
So does that just help to curate other people's content then?

Nice to see a different option on the beneficiaries and an idea on how to put to good use the rewards with Steem.DAO instead of declining the appreciated votes. Always to put the steem to work and give back to the community is one way to develop it and help it grow.

thanks for reminding me of that, I'll add @steem.dao as beneficiary for all my future posts too!
