🍺 Review: Saint Bernardus 6 #Beersaturday

Beerglasses

Let's talk a bit about beer glasses first...
Most beer brands have their own glasses and say their beer tastes best in those glasses.
Although I doubt that their claim is true, I do agree that the glass contributes to the experience and therefore very important when you’re drinking beer.
I have a couple of different glasses at home, but had one favorite; an artisan glass of the brewery Saint Bernard. The shape of the glass keeps the aroma in the glass and it was very comfortable. I say it was because I broke it a while ago.
But a while ago I got a nice present; my favorite glass including four of the beers of St. Bernardus.

Saint Bernardus 6

I know the beers of Saint Bernardus. I’ve had most of them and like them all. Since I received them again I decided to write a review for you. I received the 6, 8, Tripel and 12, but I’ll start with reviewing the 6.
The St. Bernardus 6 is a Double. From previous reviews you might remember that these aren’t really my favorite beers.

The beer is dark brown, almost black and formed a nice firm layer of light brown foam. The aroma (which is very well noticeable in this glass) has a scent of roasted malts.

The taste is not as bitter as I am used to with doubles but it is rather a bit sweet. There is some bitterness in the aftertaste.
There is no real strong taste, but it’s a good and easy drinkable beer with ‘just’ 6,7% alcohol.
I give it a 3 out of 5.

The 8, tripel and 12 are still left to review! I’m happy to have my favorite glass back!

Cheers!

I have such strong memories of the 12. I was much younger than I am today and drinking at the Belgian Beer garden in Melbourne, Australia (sadly now closed down) and wanting to celebrate with some work people, and thankfully I wasn't paying we asked the bartender for something appropriate for the occasion and he returned with St Bernardus 12 - for a young man in a time of fizzy yellow lager it was life changing.

Nice! I have the same with some beers I discovered on holidays. They always bring back good memories.
And the 12 is a really great beer indeed. It's tastes a lot like the hyped (and overpriced) 12 from trappist brewery Westvleteren.
It's from the same town in Belgium and using the same ingredients.

The 6 is double, and have "only" 6.7% of alcohol. I'm wondering how many alcohol triple and 12 have? 😎 🍻 !BEER

There is something magical about a darker beer with higher alcohol content and sweetness. Beautiful.
