Bluegrass Breakfast - Beer Review

It seems like I have been spending more time on @leofinance and have been neglecting my beer reviews. Well let’s change that! I have a great beer for y’all. Bluegrass Breakfast by Odd Side Ales is a 12.5% ABV imperial stout that’s one of the most complex beers I’ve had in a while. This imperial stout is aged in bourbon barrels with coffee, maple syrup, bacon, and pecans.

The aroma smells like breakfast. You get the sweet maple, warm bourbon and strong black coffee that’s very forward. I can’t pick up an bacon, but I’m not sure I’ve had bacon in a beer so I’m not sure what I should actually be looking for.

The flavor is fantastic. I love a good bourbon barrel age stout. You felt a nice bit of wood, warm vanilla and that alcoholic burn. I picked up a savory aspect that had to be the bacon. That savory flavor paired well with the coffee, dark chocolate and sweet syrup.

The stout is pretty thick and has a smooth creamy mouthfeel. There’s a lower carbonation level with is what gives it the texture. There’s a lot of good burn from the bourbon. You know it’s a 12.5% beer.

I wish this beer was not a pub only release. I’d love to drink this all winter.

This one might be worth checking out for me. I am with you, I have been spending so much time on Leo lately too. I don't really mind though because in the Winter I have less of my regular stuff to write about, so being able to write on Leo is a huge benefit.

Finically it's been way more lucrative and there's more active participation on post is what I really care about. Writing stuff and not getting much engagement is boring and makes you question why you are writing it in the first place.
