Fire Eater - Foam Brewers

Beer Review

Fire Eater is a 10.5% alcohol/volume Imperial/Double Milk Stout brewed by Foam Brewers in Burlington, Vermont. Foam Brewers is a relatively new operation that opened up in 2016 by a group of individuals with a shared passion for brewing, science, art, music, and culture. They quickly made a name for themselves in the craft beer scene. The brewery is located directly across from the beautiful Lake Champlain. They are named 'Foam Brewers' because foam is one of the most exciting parts of the beer that provides the drink with stability and complexity. Fire Eater is a rich s'mores style stout that is perfect for the winter season. Huddle up by the fire and drink some Fire Eater.

The Can

Fire Eater is served in a full pint can. On the front of the label the typical Foam Brewers logo is featured with three personified marshmallows burning at the stake. One look at this can and you already know it's a s'mores flavored stout.

The Beer

Fire Eater was a great beer for stout season. It's brewed with smoked molasses, cacao nibs, caramerlized sugar, smoked vanilla and Vietnamese cinnamon. It looked nice and rich when I poured it into a glass. A small head of foam formed at the top. It was had some sweetness to it, which greatly masked the 10.5% alcohol content. Overall, it's just what I look for in a winter beer. I look forward to trying more beers from Foam Brewers in the future.

Yo @jeffjagoe ! Nice to see a new beer review, but what happened? You haven't done one of these in MONTHS! Can you get back to doing one per week again? I personally would love that. Also, I'm not sure what they mean by "Vietnamese cinnamon", but I think they may be referring to "Chinese cinnamon", which is the more proper cinnamon. It's more oily, so you get some of those nice nuanced notes in the beer, I would assume. It looks interesting. https://www.natureinbottle.com/product/cassia_essential_oil

Trying to get my way back into it! I slowed down on my beer drinking over the past year. The plan is to get at least one good review per week up though. I did the last two weeks as seen below. This beer was good. I think they meant Saigon cinnamon (which probably comes from China anyway). But its great to hear someone wants more reviews!

Saigon (aka "Ho Chi Minh City") is a city - the capital of the southern region of Vietnam. It's the southern trade hub. There's no real farming going on here. For farming, you go down into the delta, where the alluvial soil is a major boon for all types of farming. Since cinnamon is bark of a tree I would think it would grow at a higher altitude. In the southern highlands there is Dalat - a lovely mountain town with TONS of agriculture, and an agriculture university, and the famous annual "Dalat Flower Festival" (which I'm sure your fine lady would much enjoy). What's nice about Dalat is that the cool (often downright COLD) whether there makes more people hang out in the cafes, drinking coffee, and reading. Vietnam is famous for its coffee, but the colder weather adds to the whole coffee experience, with more of the steam coming out, etc. You know, that NorthEast (America) vibe during the cold months (but not nearly as cold). But it seems that cinnamon agriculture may be more focused in the north of the country, from this article:

https://vietnamnews.vn/english-through-the-news/535743/cinnamon-the-spice-of-life-for-farmers.html

Anyways, all sort of herbs and spices are big here in Vietnam. That's one thing the Vietnamese do right.
