Summer is made for day trips so feel free join me on this one.

I had to pause when I first arrived to snap this pic of the whole scene. Plenty of stone and flowing water being enjoyed by a couple dozen summer celebrators. But allow me to share how this trip came to be.

Not that exciting really as I simply received a text letting me know this was where we should take the family on a day off. Perhaps an hour away on a road with lighter traffic recently and a day of nature reserve and swimming. Good enough for me!

It was like a big granite beach with a very wide and shallow river flowing over parts of it. $15 for the carful of family for a day pass and it was time to swim after a quick hike. Pretty much the hottest day of the year so we didn't waste too much time getting into the water.

It was surprisingly warm because of flowing over sun-baked rocks and soaking up the 33 Celsius atmosphere. After the falls, the water was as few as 2 inches shallow and as deep as 20+feet deep and the current is fun to swim through.

Across the deep part, there is probably 200 meters of falls in which to play. The water is probably in the high 80s or warmer for what I know and the pressure of the water falling on your feels like hot tub jets. Certain parts flow heavily enough that you can park in the air pocket under the falls.

It is a sight to behold ecologically as the stone is well worn, plenty of different minnows swimming between your feet, and there are so many levels of different seats.

This is the sublime picture I was pleased to find when reviewing the pics after the trip. It is memories like this sparkling sunshine and green outdoor that can keep a hoser warm during those long cold winter months. The calf-deep water rushing past warmly and the sounds of socially distanced children laughing.

Life is defiant and persistent. Circumstances will change but make every Sunday beautiful.
