I remember on this particular day a year ago when i was visiting my cousin in California it was a beautiful spring day and we had been driving around for awhile we needed to stop and stretch over legs by just wanted to walk a nice easy trail by a lake side the good thing about California you will always find a lake along the country side.

And it was to our luck that when we decided to stop to stretch the legs we happen to be nearby Quarry Lake this area use to be a gravel quarry before it got remodeled into this beautiful hiking and fishing grounds.

The Quarry Lake was a great choice offering you about five different trails we decided to take the Old Creek Trail and Wood Duck Trail which is a moderate trail less then 6km was just perfect to stretch our legs for the amount of time we had left in the day and enjoy the lake views and the background green mountain scenery surrounding the blue lake.

This Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area is open all year around offering many nature lovers like me to go hiking there or catch a few fish out of the lake you can also camp out here if you like to spend more time at the lake hiking the other trails but normally families will come out here for the day bringing there picnic baskets and fishing rods and just have a relaxing family day.

If you are more keen in doing a full day of active exercising you can bring your bicycle out here and enjoy the rides around the trail bike paths provided along the lakeside. Also it's a nice clean lake for a swim or some beach sports fun activities for everyone in this well take care Quarry Lake we definitely enjoyed our few hours there 😊

I noticed a few beautiful houses tucked away along the mountain sides not far from the lake what a superb spot to be living with all those great mountain views and fresh air to breath everyday lucky them 😊

What a lovely tranquil stretch of water, somewhere to enjoy the outdoors.

The bird on the lake looks very similar to our Southern African red-knobbed coot perhaps distant relative!

Thanks for sharing a wonderful outing with great photography to tell the story.

Thank you @joanstewart it really was a lovely peaceful lake to hike around and those red-knobbed coot birds could be from Africa birds are good travelers 😊

Ah to be as free as a bird, I am not to sure about migration we see them on ponds inland, quite settled bobbing around.
