Beaches, portuguese edition!

Stumbled upon good news, a couple of days ago: the beach wednesday contest, organized by @uwelang, is back! I remember the tag from a long time ago, and well, who doesn't love beaches?? It seems I've already missed a couple of editions since it came back, but now that I know, will try and join in regularly. You can check this edition's post here!

Living in a country that has some of the most beautiful beaches I've seen, had to do a national edition for a start.

Portugal has a huge shoreline, but for me, the best beaches by far, are on the SW coast. Why? Because most of them are surrounded by nature,and are not that crowded even in the peak tourist season. Gems like this:

These beaches normally don't have the cool bars, or beach supports such as showers or lifegards; but on the other hand, they're as pristine as they can possibly be!

In this part of the country, even the beaches near populations are still great, since small villages make the most part of settlements. This one, the beach in Zambujeira do Mar, is one of my favourites.

In these beaches you have more support, and amazing restaurants at walking distance. Another example is the beach of Odeceixe, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal.

A small river arrives at the beach, so you can choose to bathe in the calm river waters, or in the way less calmer sea!

Most beaches in the SW have pretty decent surfing waves, and even in the ones that don't, a calm sea is not that common. But hey, with settings like this... I don't mind that part at all!
