Welcome to the tribe friend. I don't believe that there were battlecoins airdropped to anyone. The first one were earned through playing in Steem Monsters tournaments and playing some other token games. Check out one of their recent posts about this topic.

Thanks for the information. I play steemmonsters but just the daily quest. Didn't have a chance to participate in tournaments.
