Nioh has made me like all my old PS4 games so much more!

You may have noticed that previously I was complaining about how "Nioh" is an extremely difficult game and I truly think that it is. This is a game for people that are far more dedicated to gaming than I am and I simply do not have what it takes to join their ranks. I spent a week playing that extremely impressive (visually) game and barely...BARELY ever made it past the first boss.

I gave up... and because of that level of what i consider to be insane difficulty that is contained in NIOH, i was happy to return to games that previously I had abandoned.

This doesn't necessarily need to be about Darksiders 3. We could insert just about any game here because the style of game that is NIOH and other games such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne are intentionally really really difficult.

These games like "Nioh" are intentionally really really difficult and there is a very real market for them. I just don't happen to be part of that demographic. Maybe I am too old or just don't have the muscle-memory skills or something.

I tried to join their ranks but after a week of playing Nioh and needing to use Youtube multiple times to figure out what the hell to do on the very first level of the game.... I realized that I was out of my element.

After nearly throwing my controller through my TV for the 78th time I decided to get Nioh off my PS4 and move on.

It was a humbling moment: I don't have what it takes to excel at a game that little kids are completing in what appears to be a relatively easy manor (at least on Youtube.)

But there was some good news for me at the end of all this.

After playing a game so damn-near-impossible like "Nioh" I was all of a sudden very prepared for all the other games that I had walked away from because of "difficulty" in the past. A game that I liked such as Darksiders 3 immediately seemed "easy" in comparison because in my mine EVERYTHING is easy compared to Nioh (F**K Nioh, by the way.)

I'm not saying Darksiders 3 is a fantastic game because I honestly don't know if it is. For one thing, the load times are friggin ridiculous in this game. However, after coming from a game like NIOH where one TINY little mistake can mean horrible defeat, this game actually seems easy.

I regret trying to sink so much time into Nioh and I now realize that I simply do not have what it takes to excel at a game like it. But the silver lining was that now all the old games in my library that I had given up on seem like something I have a lot of patience for.

Therefore, if you ever feel like the game you are playing is too difficult and you need a break to get motivated to play it again I strongly recommend playing NIOH. That game is so unimaginably difficult that all other games seem easy in comparison and honestly, it makes all of them more fun.

I haven't deleted NIOH from my machine yet and I will keep it there for now because anytime i get frustrated in really any other game I will simply return to it in order to remind myself that the game I am upset with....really isn't that hard.

When i went back to Darksiders (which is just what I happened to choose) the stuff that i previously thought was difficult all of a sudden seemed exceptionally easy, even in boss battles. So I suppose that is one thing that playing the ultra-difficult Nioh has done for me... I realize that my other games really aren't that hard.

So thank you Nioh.... I have no desire to play you anymore but you made me like my other games so much more now :P

I almost bought Nioh on the back of what you said on the other post. It was in a sale at Game, 2 for £20 deal but didn't in the end.

The thing is I quite like hard games.., maybe you can shove up the difficulty on Darksiders and get something similar?

i think what has happened to me is the fact that i am no longer as hardcore a gamer as I think i am. When i was a lot younger, the level of patience and dedication I would have towards a game was pretty high, but these days I think maybe not so much.

I'm not saying that I need a game to be a cakewalk, but these new styles of games that are intentionally really hard might not be for me. Nioh is a fantastic looking game for the right person, that is for sure, I just don't think that I am going to stay interested in a game when the very first boss require research on my part to get past it.

Nioh is one of PS Plus free games this month. 20 pounds should get you several months of that, right? I wouldn't pay 20 for it on its own

That is pretty funny. Sorry that it was so frustrating for you though. This holiday season Steam was having their annual sale and I was able to pick up Fallout 4 and Witcher III for under $20 combined. I have heard so many good things about Witcher 3, I am hoping it lives up to the hype. I am about halfway through the Netflix series and it has been pretty decent. The timeline confuses me though.
