Collage/Shadowbox made with a magazine cutouts, fine paper, fiber paste, tissue, gel medium and varnish, pearl and antique silver tints and the bottom of a coke bottle.

It was going to be an eyeball; but then I was inspired.

It was a suprising find a few blocks away from us in Koreatown. A beautiful little cafe with an oasis in the backyard.

Koreatown is very cold on the outside; you have to go into the buildings to find warmth and beauty. Perhaps that is reflective of some people as well.

I have been going quite mad with collages of late.

This current piece went together to quickly for WIP images. First I pasted in a magazine cut out of a dish and applied fiber paste around the corners and the cardboard shadowbox. Then I pasted on the bottom of the coke bottle and melded fine paper to the bottle with the varnish and applied more fine papers and fiber past to the rest of the image.

After the tissue dried I strategically rubbed in the tints to bring forward the forks from the other dimension. Here is how the full piece appears now.

woah that is really interesting. The forks fading in from the bottom kinda remind me of the hands of a drowning person reaching up under the ice of a frozen lake. This actually kinda reminds me of some of my sister's art, she does collages in layers with encaustic wax so parts of the collage have this weird dreamy underwater wax feel.

Thank you, interesting way to see it. Does your sister have a steemit or Instagram I can look at? Always looking for inspiration :)

I am very intrigued by your collage piece and I love how the layers came together, just like a delicious piece of Tiramisu. I am attracted to the slight glimmer of the center where the fine paper layers were melded in. It is almost like a rose cake, delicious and beautiful. And the Koreatown cafe looks really cosy with the fairy lights. Beautiful setting for a cafe and I can see how you got your inspiration :)

This is a masterpiece @twirble!!! I love the kind of art that you do. I never heard of this collage art before, but the outcome, that looks like a 3D layer to me, is excellent. I love it!

And I love the inspirational story behind, too! Hahaha! 😂 Thank your for sharing your art. 😍

I wish I could see the collage directly. In the picture you can see the details of the forks but it does not give me the artistic dimension of your work. I think it's excellent!
I follow, I love collage. Regards @twirble

What an incredible work of art, I like the staging and the original elements that you have used, I also like how the shape of the tiramisu looks in its thinnest layers, it is a work that deserves to be respected and admired. One of the things that catches my attention is the forks as they fade and make a beautiful visual art.

Greetings.
