Section 2 of my whiteboard art about the Ant Lion
Depicting the sand isn't so fun, but I used a few brushes to make things a bit easier for myself.

This one was really roughly drawn up...

That's a perfect angle! The sides of the conical pit are angled to that when an ant tries to escape, the sand slides from underneath them. An escape attempt is tantamount to running on a hill of ball-bearings!
