Autodesk Sketchbook: Digital Painting of Dwayne Johnson

So it's been a while I made an artwork with Autodesk Sketchbook and I really thought I'd have lost the juice. Maybe I did but not significantly. I decided to do something about one of my favourite Hollywood actors.. Dwayne Johnson. I like sketching celebrities with the physique as they tend to come out better. Sooner though, I'll stray out of that proclivity and go for another class of celebrities, maybe Kevin Hart. But before that.. I need to sketch a super villain, if you could guess.

Well. This artwork took me about 7 hours. It started so fast but overtime, I realised I need to be extra patient with it. The shadows and highlight can get in the way of each other sometime, only time and patience will really make the difference. I really wanted to use a complexion much more lighter but then Dwayne Johnson isn't your regular white guy. I settled for darker and it still came out satisfactorily.

Like most times, I use soft airbrush and hard if I'm feeling a little too inspired. But then, not that there's really much difference to them. For this work, I had to smudge out some stubborn but minute edges that had the potential to distort the overall look of the art. I also had a bit of tough time with the lips, I never envisaged the magnitude of his pink lips. I'd have had to iron out the details as painstakingly as possible even with the skin pores until I thought to me self.. "It's a cartoon not a realism" so I gave it moderate realism. And that's all there is to this artwork.
