STARGAZER
"Stargazer", Five story high sculpture by Linda Scott..
Located on route 111, a Manorville road, just before you head out to the Hampton's...Play grounds of the rich & famous.
Scott, a prominent sculpturer artist, resident of Southampton maintained the giant stucco work for 20 years. After her death in 2015 it fell into disrepair. A fund was started for restoration and maintenance. Now it is good for another 25 years.
The sculpture depicts a giant deer head reaching up and pulling down a small tree or branch. Scott said it represented a connection of the above to the below when asked about the name "Stargazers"
It was originally commissioned by the Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) in East Hampton to straddle the driveway, and cars would drive through its legs.
But the East Hampton Building Department refused permission because it would be to close to the East Hampton airport and may distract incoming pilots.
It eventually came to this Manorville field with the help of a 150 ton crane and now is a beloved landmark on the way to the Hamptons.

Got to say manorvillemike it's a fascinating sculpture, thanks for sharing it.
I don't really like big gaudy sculptures they have out in the Hamptons.. But this one in the open field seems fitting....:-)
What a seriously cool sculpture and great to hear it has been refurbished
One of the few sculptures I like out here....:-)
I can see why you like it ;)
