Continued Practice with Gesture Drawings & Reverse Pose Exercise

(Edited)

Hi steemians, sharing with you some of my practice gesture drawings as I try and improve my skill level at drawing.
I am using my dad as a drawing reference while he is working out. The exercises and stretch poses are good opportunities to practice several poses of the human form.

Reverse Poses
A good exercise for training your mind's eye in drawing is reverse poses. The drawing below is done following the reverse pose exercise so the drawing is a mirror of the actual pose. He is actually leaning on his right knee not his left like in the drawing with his hands on his right knee.

Practicing gesture drawing has helped me draw smoother and more expressive lines. I do not hesitate as much and can draw the whole general form pretty quickly and closely in proportion. It hopefully makes my drawings more dynamic with character than the static drawings I used to have when copying from a photo.

These drawings are very quick 30-60 seconds each and are not intended to be impressive. They are more to lay the fundamental groundwork for drawing and then painting.
