Illustration of the week -Experiencing Art Nouveau- | Digital Art

Freshly baked drawing, that's what I bring you my friends, after spending almost a whole week making this girl, finally I have finished it, definitely @yanes94 must give me her secret to make drawings in less than two days, I am obsessed with details and modifications and it is eternal for me to finish every illustration.

This time I have challenged myself, since I know one of my weak points in the drawing of busts, the profile in ¾, (that's what I call it). It has always been a bit difficult for me, mostly because of the evil second eye, usually the characters or people I portray in that position become slimy, and because this time it has also remained so a little, that means that I must practice even more and more.

Also, I wanted to experiment with an artistic movement quite old but very cool, something known as "art nouveau" (1890-1905) which has as its main feature the prominence of nature in curves and flowers, if you google this artistic trend you will find many flowers in the form of stained glass or frames for the main character. Without further ado, let's take it step by step.

Materials:

  • Medibang Paint
  • Wacom Intuos 4

-Step 1:

As needed, start with a simple sketch, using geometric figures to establish the position (although these are not appreciated).

-Step 2:

In a new layer under the sketch, I added color, using three tones for the skin and a darker tone for the eyes and eyebrows.

-Step 3:

I love semi realism, so I went to Pinterest in search of photographs that would serve as a reference to achieve more natural features in this girl.

-Step 4:

Art nouveau is coming, making use of copy and paste together with the transformation tool, I designed little by little the stained glass of the background, the tedious thing is to outline, to color it just use the filler tool and it was quite fast. As for the girl, in her hair I first established the tufts with a dark tone, and then detailed them properly. I gave the final touches with the "overlay" fusion mode, achieving more prominent and striking glosses.

I'll leave you a little gif with the whole process in it, so you can better appreciate the step by step.
