Hello Steemians.
Selling a piece of art is an integral part of art itself could be very challenging. Most artists are talented at creating masterpieces but sometimes have very little idea of how to make sales. This is one reason why quite alot of artists around the world struggle financially.

To sell a piece of art, you could ask yourself if you can proceed with sales or if you need a salesman or anyone experienced in selling of artworks and also reputable for reaching buyers who could be interested in the subject of your works. If you've made up your mind to go with the salesman, then you must have agreed on the fact that he's a middle man and would also want to earn quite alot from what he's selling (it's human nature). Some artists don't have an issue with this especially if there's an agreement between the two parties.

But if you're an upcoming artist who is just setting out and trying to find good grounds for your artworks, I won't completely suggest you go through a middle man for all your sales. Now here are three ideas I have that could boost your sales.

KNOW YOUR MARKET

First, what kind of art do you create and how do people respond to them. For instance, in my country, people would go for the portraits of themselves, landscape paintings, nude paintings and religious paintings. Abstract, contemporary and wildlife are still yet to be widely accepted so It's best to diversify here to make something out of the art market. The point is, if you're willing to sell something, you should be able to know what the market demands and create those needs.

LOCATIONS FOR POTENTIAL SALES

Secondly, For those who aren't capable to have an art shop or gallery where they can display their works for potential buyers to walk through to view and possibly buy, you can reach out to stores that have a connection with your kind of art. For example, if you make wildlife art, you could visit the shops at the zoo and meet potential buyers including tourists who may love to take a memory of an animal they saw home. If you create religious arts, then religious centers are great for sale, same goes with landscape and abstract which can both be sold at malls. Also, you can connect with artists who have galleries that you could exhibit your works. Shows and events are also great for exhibiting.

SOCIAL MEDIA!!!!

This is so important the in sales of art and can't be neglected. MAKE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA!!!. I was lagging I this part at some point until I tried it out and saw it's importance. There are millions of potential buyers of art online waiting to stumble on your work and pay for it. All you have to do is to be part of the system by being active, constantly creating art and reaching out to both buyers and those who could help in showcasing your works.
