Illustration #15: Meditation Woman [ Creation process included! ]

avatar

Hi folks! I hope you're all having a good day. Today I share with you this new illustration in which I wanted to capture a Buddhist woman meditating and add some of the light effects that I like to add to my drawings and that in fact characterize them.

Here are some of the stages of the process of creating this illustration.

This is the first stage. This is how all my illustrations begin: a hand-drawn sketch in my old notebook.

This is a gif that shows some of the stages of the process of creating the digital lineart of the illustration. To create this lineart I use a drawing software called Paint Tool Sai and I make digital strokes on the photograph of the handmade drawing.

Once the lineart is done, I move on to the stage of adding the base colors, which are shown below.

And here I'm already starting to shade! As you can see, with the shadows I add some depth to the drawing and also change the color of some parts of the lineart. Oh, and I also add color to the background.

This is the stage of special shadow effects. To get this effect I do something very simple: I create a new layer on top of all the other layers of the illustration and then, with 66% transparency, I paint the layer completely, which makes it look like the character in the illustration is in a dark place.

And finally I add the lights (this is my favorite part!). For this I create, with the " luminosity " option, a layer on top of the shadow layer (the one that is at 66%) and I start adding lights in the corresponding places of the illustration.

And that's it! This was my most recent digital illustration.

I've always liked Buddhist figures who seem to be meditating. I think they radiate a lot of tranquility and harmony, and that's why I like them. So from that interest was born the idea of doing this illustration. I hope you liked it.

To finish I share with you the speedpaint video of the creation of this illustration, don't miss it!

Thank you very much for your attention and support and hopefully you all have an excellent rest of the day today. See you soon! Enjoy the video!
