Hi steemians:

Almost a week ago I introduced Felipe V, the Mad King. Explaining who he was, what his background story was and how he had done to have reached the Throne, at such an early age. In the explanation he had given, he had also named a very important character for his life and history, his mother: Queen Margaret, the one who had extorted and manipulated him.

Today, I want to show you this important character.

Step by step

1. Before starting, a new blank canvas opens.

2. I started with a sketch of Margaret.

3. I cleaned the sketch with the lineart and leave it ready for coloring.

4. I decided to start coloring by her face and eyes.

5. I continued coloring the hair.

6. I colored, then, the first part of her dress.

7. And I colored the rest of her dress.

8. Finishing the process, I added the background of the drawing.

9. And finally, I added my signature on the top of the drawing.

As final result: The mad Queen.

For the curious, Margaret was forced, at the age of 13, to marry Robert II, the Father of Felipe V. This marriage was carried out by an agreement between the families of Robert and Margaret from before they were born. Being named Queen from such a young age, she did not have enough knowledge to rule in the Kingdom, so the royal advisers and the family of Robert II, her parents to be exact, manipulated a Margaret like a puppet.

Over the years, Margaret accumulated a deep hatred towards Robert II and her family, making her want to take revenge with all of them for the miserable life she had in the past. Therefore, on the 15th birthday of Felipe Margaret poisoned Robert II, killing him instantly. In this way, Felipe V would rule under the tutelage of his mother, for being too young, and Margaret would finally make the decisions of her own future and of her kingdom.

I loved Margaret's final design result, and her backstory along with that of her son. I love to think about the evolution they can have, going from victims of circumstances to manipulators of their surroundings, I find it very interesting.
