Since it was my wife's staff Christmas party last night, I let her sleep in a bit, ...

... which is not an easy feat in this apartment with a 3 year old and a dog. But, we just woke her up and it is 11am. Not bad as our daughter got up at 7.

I don't know the last time I slept til 11.

Saturdays are nice generally and even better as my daughter and I seem to have found a good rhythm during the week so both the mornings and afternoons run smoothly. This seems to help the weekends become more relaxed also. Weekday mornings are "a little" rushed for us most days, but as long as my daughter knows it, she seems to be able to handle it well and be understanding of the requirements and she actively takes responsibility for some areas, asking help when needed. I wonder what effect it will have on her later and if she will be able to handle pressure differently because of it.

It is nearly impossible to really know what effects what on our future, but we do tend to apply meaning to aspects post-outcome and assign a cause to a result. The problem is that most of the influences in our life go under the radar of attention and therefore there is a memory-based availability bias on what we consider affected the change.

I am not sure it matters though, because we do not live our life based on facts, we live them on the stories we tell ourselves and the habits that we do not necessarily even know we have. But even the facts we "know" are problematic as they suffer from resolution issues, where they are facts at one level, but with better insight can actually be partially true.

How I think of this is the understanding oh germs before the were ever seen. Even after they were described as little disease causing animals that lived on our skin but couldn't be seen, the fact for the vast majority of society was that if it can't be seen, it doesn't exist. Of course, we know differently now as microscopes offered the resolution to build the knowledge that unseen doesn't mean impossible.

While some attempt to use facts to justify their behavior, I am always curious of the future where there is still a great deal of unknown as well as a great deal of misconception. Just think about how many school text books have been wrong throughout history as new technology shines lights in previously unseen corners.

How many will have to use the justification "I didn't know any better" and, how valid will their clsim be once it can be proven they had the information, but didn't choose to listen?

As said, we live our lives by the stories we believe, not the facts. The fact is what is, known and applied or not.

They start them early here because there are so many and not many venues, so the costs can be insane. Mine is next Friday, I bet I won't get much of a sleep in.

Pub sounds good to me and it has been a while since one has received my patronage.

Oh the chaos of the midweek mornings. Sometimes it has to be seen to be believed! My brother started over a few weeks back and was horrified at it all. Lol

Yay for finding a rhythm, they help a lot :) (until it changes XD)

Stories are much more comfortable, especially if the facts indicate we're wrong ;D

The beauty of the internet is that there are always alternate facts available to support any position.

Haha yep, I remember this coming up on Facebook when I was still on Facebook a hundred million years ago, one of my friends saying that there was a study to support every position as correct these days or something to that effect.

And there is vrey little chance of verification, even if someone gave a crap to check - which they don't.
