Placing the Boom back on the Line-Truck... Time-Lapse... This has to be one of my ...

... favorite features on Appics. The ability to post short videos. This is a time-lapse I took when we had to replace the main bearing and drive gear on one of our Line-Trucks. The Altec mechanic needed a hand and I jumped at the opportunity to help with this one. That boom weighs approximately 9,800 pounds with the auger and auger motor on it. So removing it helped lighten the load to approximately 8,000 pounds. Just wanted to throw some numbers at you real fast. Stay tuned to my main account (@jlsplatts) when I make a full... well almost full write up on how and why we needed to do this. It was a great experience and a lot of fun... 11 hours from start to finish, including load testing the boom. Now the truck is once again ready for battle. Gotta love the LineLife.

Oh man! Great job on the tandem boom action. Impressive job there @jlsplatts, thanks for filming that one.

This was a cool project to be apart of. Of course I had to rub it in. I sent some messages to the crew who broke this line truck. “You break it, I fix it. Plus I am getting paid double time to do it... thanks for the OT boys!!” Hahahaha

Nice that you could do it in your own shop and not need to farm it out.

We did have to have a mechanic from Altec come but he definitely couldn’t have done it alone. It was a very cool thing to experience and be a part of. Lots of fun
