... because he was revered by Buddhist and Taoist. At first I thought he was one of the 8 Taoist Immortals because I usually found him in Taoist temples. After Googling, I found out that he was a Zen Buddhist monk during his life, but drink alcohol and eat meat. In the end he did a lot of good deeds by helping a lot of people in need and became an interesting deity venerated by both Taoist and Buddhist from Southern China and Chinese diaspora around South East Asia.

Personally I like this deity compared to most Taoist deity because he look very chill and not that serious.
