Manifesting The Village: Introducing My Newest Article Series

(Edited)

One of my longest-held visions has been that of co-creating a village for my community, my friends & family. After years and years of thinking and dreaming of what this village might be, and connecting with ones that already exist around the world, I feel like the image is so very clear in my mind. I've done tons of research on so many facets, have so very many resources, and feel like it's time to get it all down "on paper."

The purpose of this series is to give me a place to share my research, ideas, and vision on an open platform, so I can get feedback and take the first steps towards transforming this from an dream in my mind into something manifest, co-created by many beautiful humans.

This post is, as the title indicates, my introduction to the topic. First I'm going to share a bit about how I got here, how this dream came to be, then I'm going to run through the most basic vision for the village, and finally a table of contents for the series, which I will be updating as I add new posts.

My Journey to Here

As a small child, I remember having a school assignment where we were supposed to design our "dream house." Mine ended up being a GIANT pyramid, with a mirror image pyramid going down into the Earth, featuring dozens of floors and rooms such as a movie theater, an armory, and a laser tag stadium. Obviously, since then my vision of what a village looks like has changed quite a bit.

In those early years, I simply knew that I wanted my family & friends around me, and I already had some sense that the world as a whole was a little off, and seemed to be run by folks who were either stupid, crazy, or evil (or some combination.) After my psychedelic awakening in 2011, my life has shifted ever more towards an understanding of sovereignty, personal responsibility, intentional living, and mindfulness. As such, my dream land has evolved from simply a place where I and my people could live together, into a full-blown working example of, a living ritual to summon, a more peaceful & free world.

One of my biggest influences in this shift has been The Rainbow Gathering, the longest-running, largest, most decentralized and truly anarchist event on the planet. Rainbow is, itself, a temporary portal into the world that I want to see manifest, and this village will take many of its cues from the five decades of practice & example that Rainbow offers.

What You Can Expect

I don't know how many parts this series will end up being, but I'm basically just going to keep putting out articles on this topic until I've got all my ideas written down and fleshed out enough to convert it all into a whitepaper/prospectus for the project itself.

Basically, each article is going to be addressing a different facet of the village. Some will be logistical, some will be around Law, some will have to do with the community, while some will be focused on structures, farming, and energetics. Some articles will be strictly research papers, while some will be more free-form intention-setting, and some will be probably be totally different, and something I can't even imagine yet.

The following is a list of the topics I know I want to cover. As I work my way through this, I will update the list with further topics, as well as hyperlink in the appropriate articles once they're published. Currently in no particular order; I'll sort it into more of a logical flow as the project progresses.

Very cool man, I look forward to reading this series.
I’m in a similar place in my life where I’m really excited about finally putting down roots somewhere, both figuratively and literally.
Community is key.

Great project!
Looking forward to your ideas.
Maybe it will be some inspiration for @eco-alex and his ecovillage project too.

nice to see you writing about this kenny! there is a ton to think about when planning ecoVillages, and Hive is SUCH a great way to journel and collect your thoughts..

My vision for ecoVillages has changed dramatically recently from co-owned community land.. Now my plan is to build first on our own small plot, learn and nail the design and then facilitate others to come and get cheap land of their own nearby and help them build.. I like it how everyone has true security and ownership, and are not living under each others noses..

There were always SO many issues and questions around a 'centralised' community that i struggled with.. in particular with people who were acting up and may have to be asked to leave..

SO, i look forward to reading how your vision unfolds.. Very good to see so many people thinking and working down this route now.. its time right! is it ever!

Loving the intention - we just have to keep casting this energy to the universe over and over... I am interested most in the explanation of consensus based decision making. If it is something you can post about - actionable steps to achievement should be published as well.
