pre and during Oyster fest

For this evenings acifit post I share some photos taken with my iPhone on an early morning walk

Oyster Fest is the biggest Festival here in Milford, this is its 45th Year, and they get crowds up to 30 thousand people which is big for our small City, I went for my normal early morning walk from around 5:45 to 7, and then went for a quick stroll around some of the festival after lunch so I had some shots showing people :) so a lot of photos in this post.

Putting that first photo in twice just to have it show in the preview :) the rest are in order of the day

This Carnival sets up in one area each year, the light was dull this morning when I was walking so my iPhone struggled a little

NOw walking past an Ice Cream shop I am tempted, and for the record, I did have an ice cream today as I hit my next weight goal, but these stalls do not tempt me at all but this one was busy on my walk later in the day

I guess I am still a big kid at heart if there is a merry go round I have to get a shot of it, and if you wondering no I didn't ride it, coming up on 60 with a camera on me it may not be a good idea LOL

And of course i had to get a shot of the ferris Wheel

This is the main Stage for the Event and the Band finishing off the Festival and the main act is a band called Extreme, I think they were at their peak in the 80s and 90s and I dont really no them that well, vbut a small city like outs can not get the big name bands

This area has beer and food tents, well not at the time I took the photos that had not even started setting up the tables at this stage, looks deserted now but it was packed on my walkthrough later in the day

And this is looking down again at the main stage area, quite deserted at 7:30 inthe morning

But around 2:30 its starting to fill with people and by the time the main band come son at 3 it will be packed in there, these next shots are from a quick walk through I did between 2:30 and 3PM

I have shared shots of this bridge a few times most times with no on one it, as you can see this afternoon that was not the case, there are events both in the fields where I have shown shots of and around downtown so people are crossing back and forth, I considered heading over but there was a queue just to get on the bridge so I decided to head on the other way.

And as well as the big stage they have a few stages set up in the area, a couple with Stages and beer tents, which is where we used to go back when we both enjoyed a drink, but now avoid, and little stages like this one for kids

NOw a screen shot to show I achieved the Automatic win of 10K steps by 10AM, I had not planned this at all, in fact I had planned to do less steps today and take my Doctors advice of slowing down a little till my Next checkup in 3 Months, but hey I was just walking and it is relaxing for me.

I talked with a friend at church today who visited Australia and New Zealand with his family. He said New Zealand was his favorite! I always wanted to go there ever since I was taught in school that it was the antipode of Scotland!! Stick a needle through the globe from Scotland and it comes out at New Zealand. I never forgot that.

I have meet a few people who did the common 3 weeks in Aus and one in NZ and they all said they wished it was the other way and they had more time in NZ
I think parts of NZ have a feel of Scotland especially in the South Island

Mountains and sheep? Is it the North island that has the geysers? I forget.

There are sheep all over the countryside:) and a few mountains in both Islands the Geysers are in the Central North Island, you can ind them and hot pools in Taupo and Rotorua which are very close to each other, but there are also some springs in the South Island but i dont think there are any Geysers there

To go back into the crazy later in the day... you are brave!

Quiet look in the morning would have been enough to keep me happy, seeing what was on offer with different photography.

Small city not big enough to bring in big bands, a pity considering the large crowds drawn to the area for this occasion.

Nice overall feel of how your day panned out in photography.

Brave or crazy but my second visit was a very quick walk through I have to be honest LOL

I think its almost good that the festival organizers can not afford to get bigger bands its crazy enough with the bands it gets if it was a current band or even a better known band it would be absolutely chaos in our small city

Great shots and steps JJ.
Can you believe that I was banned from the rides as a kid?
I am unfortunately a very inventive guy and obviously got up to a few tricks.
Simple innocent things like trying to stand on my head while the slow merry go round was turning or to hang by my feet on the figure 8.
I just think that they employed very nasty safety officers and the one even pulled me by the ear.
Blessings!

LOL yes somehow I can believe that, I to got banned from a few things when I was younger, I guess we wre both inventive or as others may call it rebels LOL

I was never banned from rides, but thats probably only because i do not ever remember riding any when I was a rebel

We have a lot of little festivals like this around where I live too. Potato festival, corn festival, cheese festival, pickle festival, blueberry festival, etc. I have never had oysters before. I just don't know if I would be able to handle the texture.

We have quite a few here as well the Oyster fest is the biggest the rest are smaller such as Octoberfest, Irish Fest, and various fairs on the green.

I have had Oysters a few times, I find there not too bad if washed down by a Beer so since i dont drink anymore have no interest in them at all
