Run slowly in order to get faster!

My 10 km run today was totally different than yesterday. Easy legs, faster pace and not - like yesterday - an exhausting and fatiguing training!

What has changed? Firstly, I felt really rested in the morning due to a deep sleep and - I also ran faster and therefore had a higher average heart rate. Yesterday I had an average of 124 beats/minute, today it was 140 beats/minute.

Somehow the very slow pace is more exhausting for me. On the other hand, after reading many running books I have come to the conclusion (which I can also confirm) that 80% of the running training has to be done at low intensity.

According to the rule: run slowly in order to get faster!



Nach einer halben Stunde Laufen waren meine Beine immer noch schwer und müde, was bei mir eher selten ist. Normalerweise braucht es nur ein oder zwei Kilometer bis ich ohne große Anstrengung ein Bein vor das andere setzen kann.

Jeder Schritt fühlte sich sehr anstrengend an und eigentlich hatte ich keine große Lust mehr die anvisierte Strecke von 10 km zu laufen. Ich dachte mir, da muss ich jetzt durch und biss innerlich die Zähne zusammen. No pain, no gain!

Am Ende hab ich die 10 km geschafft und kam erschöpft und durchschwitzt, aber froh und zufrieden, zu Hause an.
