U.S. Theocracy

Yesterday I wrote a short post about the link between religion and traditional or patriarchal hierarchies. A while back I also wrote about the Supreme Court's intention to overturn Roe v. Wade. Well, it just happened: In the decision today, Friday 24 June 2022, America's top court ruled that "The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion," in a 6-3 vote powered by the court's conservative super-majority.

Today the clock has been set back almost a half century; the 1973 "Roe v Wade" decision that enshrined a woman's right to an abortion has been overturned, allowing individual states to decide for themselves. This will likely result in new laws that severely restrict or outright ban and criminalize abortions in more than half of the 50 states. In my post Roe V. Hate last month I wrote about this when the memo leaked that outlined the majority opinion. Conservatives in the public eye made a whole lot of noise, not about its substance, but about the act of leaking this document and how it degraded the Supreme Court's standing...

In December last year I and many others already predicted this would happen. And I also pointed out the hypocrisy behind the whole conservative "pro-life" stance in that post titled Pro-Life Hypocrisy. It's not the unborn they wish to protect, it's the women they wish to keep in their place. It's about controlling women by denying them control over their own bodies. It's the whole love for traditional hierarchies of the patriarchy all over again. One thing I must admit about these conservative Republicans; they never give up. As opposed to the Democrats who are responsible for this set-back just the same by not fighting back. I'll repeat a quote I used in one of those previous posts:

“The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.”

That's what it's ultimately about. So you can imagine my feeling of unease and horror when I found the below linked video while searching for a video explaining today's ruling. It depicts a large group of protesters in front of the court building, but not against the overturning of Roe v Wade... And they aren't men, but mostly women who are ecstatic about the Supreme Court's decision... Some of them literally cry tears of happiness, loving it that they lost a basic human right. I'm speechless. I can't find the words to express just how sad I am at this sight. How deeply indoctrinated by iron-age scribes must one be to think that this is a good thing to happen? I can't honestly recommend you watch this video, dear reader, but I hope you do. The men who like their wives in the kitchen have won their half century long battle against social progress, and the wives are ecstatic... And don't believe they'll stop here. Just wait for the proposals against contraception and same-sex marriage, as stated minutes ago in this article: Contraception, gay marriage: Clarence Thomas signals new targets for supreme court. Anyone excited for the American Theocracy? The women in this video clearly are...

Amazing. The power of religion is strong but they win small battles and losing the war.
The irony is that same people that are against vaccination are also against abortions. The individual rights on your own body are being attacked by vaccinations and abortion control.
What I think will solve it for human kind is decentralization of medical care.
If you can create your homemade vaccines or homemade abortion, you will only consult your communities but will have real freedom of choice (and privacy).

I think they are against mandatory vaccination, so what irony? All of a sudden the baby in a woman's womb has no right to life, because someone says that they as the mother have no responsibility or duty to their child which would die without their care?

That's a stretch, as abortion is illegal in many states, and many more to follow since there's no such thing as abortion rights.
