The Theocracy Cometh!

One of the omens of fascism gaining ground in a society, is when the dominant group starts to see themselves as the victims of marginalized groups. If we were to believe their rhetoric, white American Christians have been under attack for decades by progressive forces; "wokism," they claim, is destroying America and "the American way of life."

If you live in the United States of America, you may live under the false impression that Christianity is under attack, especially if you get your information from right-wing conservative news media. Or from Christian fundamentalist entertainment media for that matter; if you're familiar with the God's Not Dead films you'll know what I mean. All four of these films tell the same story we hear from religious conservatives and the Republican Party's evangelical core; America was founded as a Christian nation, and the perceived attack on Christianity is an attack on the nation itself.

This premise is false of course, and breaks down in the very first sentence of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which says: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. This is nothing more and nothing less than an enshrinement of the freedom of religion. It prohibits the government from establishing one religion as the nation's "official" religion. It ensures America's citizens that religion will not be part of any government institution. In short, it prevents religion from ever becoming mandatory in any way, shape or form. Without this separation between Church and State, America would become the western mirror-image of a caliphate.

Contrary to what evangelical reactionaries want us to believe, everyone is still free to practice their own religion as they see fit. The Christian fundamentalists however will take a phrase like "no prayer in school" and translate that as if it's prohibited to pray in school. That's not the case though; every school-kid can freely pray, alone or with classmates, before the school lunch in the school cafeteria. What's prohibited is that a teacher leads an entire class in prayer during school hours in a public, government-funded school; then it becomes an act of the government, then it becomes mandatory and demands from atheists and Muslims that they betray their own spiritual, secular or religious convictions, thereby contradicting the religious freedom enshrined in the constitution.

White Christian men who declare themselves victims of progressiveness and claim that their way of life is under attack should be the laughing stock of the nation; they are the wielders of political, social and economical power after all. Unfortunately the opposite seems to be happening, and they are becoming bolder in their wish to grab absolute power. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently declared, in front of cameras, that she proudly wears the label of "Christian nationalist." If you know anything about the history of Christian nationalism in America, and know the names of Andrew Whitehead and Samuel Perry, you know she's flirting with fascism here. Fellow congresswoman Lauren Boebert has also expressed support for Christian nationalism, and went so far as to state, in an interview about the upcoming mid-term elections, that she'd like to see the establishment laws that require Biblical citizenship training.

They already have the Supreme Court, and they already have taken away rights that have been fought for over decades. But if it's up to them, that's only the first step towards a full-fledged authoritarian Christian Theocracy. I've stumbled across the below linked video, and its title already made the hairs in my neck stand upright; "Mega Church Leaders Lay Out Their Plans For A Theocratic Takeover of The USA." Watching it filled me with a sense of horror. Just look at the declaration these Church leaders were chanting together with their audience:

As a Patriot of faith, I attest my allegiance first and foremost to the kingdom of God and the Great Commission. Secondly, I agree to be a watchman over our nation concerning its people and their rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness - Whereas: we, the Church, are God's governing body on the earth. Whereas: we have been given legal power from heaven and now exercise our authority. Whereas: we are God's ambassadors and spokespeople over the earth. Whereas: through the power of God, we are the world influencers.

And so on and so forth... This is followed by a bunch of "We decree..." and "We declare..." statements, one of which betrays their political agenda more than any other: "We declare that we stand against wokeness, the occult and every evil attempt against our nation." Now, it's all too easy to discard all this as the ramblings of an irrational bunch of overly confident religious megalomaniacs, but I don't think that would be wise. I've written countless posts about the resurgence of fascism in America and western Europe, and for those who've paid attention the signs have been on the wall for a long time now. And it's only gotten worse, as is clearly shown in this video. So please watch it...

More racist bile vomited without an ounce of Self Reflection by someone who has not touched base reality with what they are speaking about. Why did Fox News not make mention of 2000 Mules documentary?

Censorship, taking away guns, forced vaccination, lockdowns who do more damage then good, brainwashing children with gender nonsense, removing historic statues.

Above doesn't belong in the West. So I think they def got a point when they think the American way of living is under attack.

Why are you so mad at white men? You think other races are perfect?

So sorry for the late response... But... What censorship? I'm not aware of ant censorship by the Democratic Party. Sure, YouTube, Twitter and all the others who have certain terms of use remove that which violate those terms, but that's their right, isn't it? Its their house after all. Forced vaccination? Where? Everyone's free to not get the jab my friend. Gender nonsense? Where? Removing historic statues? You mean the ones placed by the Southern Wives organizations in the early 20th century? What do you mean by "historic"? As we agreed in our previous short interaction, the lockdowns we can have a debate on. And... I am a white man; where did you get the idea I'm mad at them? Stating facts isn't hate.
