One Year Later

It's been a whole year now, and there are still people who deny that what happened on 6 January 2021 at the United States Capitol was an attempted coup, which is short for "coup d'état." Some will deny this obvious fact because of politics and partisanship, because they identify with Team Red. But others just don't know what a coup is...

The January 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol was the final stretch in a long race. Not a race to win the elections; that race was over on November 3, 2020 and Biden received more than 80 million votes, the most votes ever cast for a candidate in a U.S. presidential election. No, it was a race to cast enough doubt over the election results to cause widespread discontent among those who voted Team Red. I'm not sure how there can be any doubt about this goal. The aim was never to prove voter-fraud. If that was the goal, they would have given up after the first 10 to 20 legal cases were thrown out of court. No, doubt is the only thing that matters, so they kept going to court, in total more than 60 cases which resulted in not one single shred of proof.

Note that this strategy of casting doubt is a well tested and effective strategy that's often used. Take climate change denial as an example: 98 percent of scientists agree on anthropogenic climate change, but it takes only 2 percent to cast enough doubt. And a mainstream media that gives equal air-time to both camps, and call that "fair and balanced," when "fair and balanced" in this case would mean to give only 2 percent air-time to the climate change deniers, as that would reflect reality. The same goes for the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers, or creationism versus evolution theory. The casting of doubt is always disguised in innocence: "I'm not denying, nor asserting anything, I'm merely raising questions..." Just look at the online anti-vaxxer media; they'll almost never outright say that vaccines don't have a positive effect, certainly now that disinformation will get you suspended or banned from the popular platforms, but they'll just interpret statistics wrong, and focus on fringe cases, fringe doctors and fringe scientists.

MUST-SEE: Trump advisor called out for staging January 6 coup TO HIS FACE live on air

I'm stressing this point because I think it's important to develop some media-literacy, to grow an ability to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to conspiracies. Because not all conspiracies are equal, some are definitely true, or have some truth to them. For example, it is true that the real pandemic is used by governments all over the world to increase their power and control over their peoples. Just like the 9/11 attacks were used. Power and control are always the objective for the powers that be, but they're not out to kill us all. Not yet at least. Power and control were also the objectives of Team Red and Team Trump on January 6, 2021. Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro has recently revealed the plot to overturn the election. He didn't call it a coup of course; he called it the "Green Bay Sweep." The plan was to get Congress to debate the electoral results of six swing states that went for Biden for four hours each, with the aim to cast enough concerns over these results that they would be declared in-dispute. If that would have been achieved, the House would then pick the president with one vote per congressional delegation, which would give Republicans a good chance to win as they would hold a majority of congressional delegations. At least that's what Navarro deduced.

To top it of, Navarro asserts that the violent uprising messed up this plan, making it look like the insurrection wasn't actually part of the plan. This is questionable to say the least, looking at the rhetoric used by Trump and his goons on that very day, and the fact that Trump declined to immediately call for a halt to the violence. So, was this a coup? Yes it was, there's no doubt whatsoever. There are many kinds of coups, and the fact that this wasn't a military coup, with tanks in the streets, doesn't take away from the fact that it was an attempt by the elected regime to overthrow the outcome of the free and fair democratic process that would have them step down. There's a term for this kind of coup: self-coup, also known as autocoup. Watch the below linked video for a more detailed description, and the above linked video to see Navarro being accused of orchestrating a coup to his face.

Let's talk about whether it was really a coup attempt....
