Un poco de mi familia | A bit of my family [ESP/ENG]
Lo verdaderamente importante en un familia no es vivir juntos sino vivir en completa unidad*
Una vez leí que «La sangre solo nos hace parientes, pero el amor nos hace familia» y esta frase cautivó mi atención en su totalidad. Si bien es cierto que una familia se compone de aquellas personas que los une un vínculo sanguíneo, también lo es que hay amigos que son más que un hermano, y esto lo podemos leer en las sabias palabras del Rey Salomón cuando lo escribió en su libro de Proverbios 18:24 "Hay amigos que no son amigos, y hay amigos que son más que hermanos" y el tiempo ha comprobado que esto es una verdad ineludible. Sin embargo, comenzaré mi historia contándoles un poco acerca de mi familia... la de sangre.
I once read that “Blood only makes us relatives, but love makes us family” and this phrase totally captured my attention. While it is true that a family is made up of those people who are linked by blood, it is also true that there are friends who are more than a brother, and we can read this in the wise words of King Solomon when he wrote it in his book from Proverbs 18:24 "There are friends who are not friends, and there are friends who are more than brothers" and time has proven that this is an inescapable truth. However, I will start my story by telling you a little about my family... the blood family.
Ella es mi madre. Con 75 años aún es independiente y le gustan los regalos. Según ella los debe recibir el día de los reyes, en su cumpleaños, el día de las madres, el día internacional de la mujer, 25 de diciembre y cualquier otro día que considere festivo y digno para esa ocasión. Tiene por costumbre también que aquello que le regalan, lo guarda para que nadie lo rompa. En este caso mi esposo le regaló para su cumpleaños 75 un juego de ollas de 30 piezas y le dijo: "Cada vez que estés de cumpleaños, sacas una olla porque te he regalado 30 piezas" Las ocurrencias de mi esposo para hacer de todo un chiste no tienen comparación. Yo soy la tercera de 4 hermanos y mi papá ya no está con nosotros y a pesar de los años, aún me duele su partida.
She's my mother. She is 75 years old, she is still independent and likes gifts. According to her, she should receive them on Three Kings' Day, on her birthday, Mother's Day, International Women's Day, December 25, and any other day that she considers festive and worthy for that occasion. She also has the habit that what they give her, she keeps it so that no one breaks it. In this case, my husband gave him a set of 30-piece cooking pots for his 75th birthday and told him: "Every time it's your birthday, you take out a pot because I've given you 30 pieces" My husband's witticisms for making a joke of everything have no comparison. I am the third of 4 siblings and my dad is no longer with us despite the years, his departure still hurts.
Ella es mi hermana mayor. Ahora vive en Colombia y le ha dado por hacer Tik Tok. Ocurrente y siempre alegre nos comunicamos siempre para contarnos los por menores que ocurren en la familia. Alguien con quien contar siempre y dispuesta a escuchar para apoyar y buscar una solución. Tiene 3 hijos los cuales dos viven en los Estados Unidos y una hija en Bogotá, Colombia. Ella viaja constantemente a Venezuela a ver a nuestra madre.
Ellos son mis hermanos: Andy que es el menor de la camada y aún vive en Venezuela y Héctor el mayor de todos que vive en los Estados Unidos. Ambos están pendiente de nuestra madre también, de la misma forma que del resto de la familia. Sin duda aquí se cumple aquello que reza que «Cuando hay amor en la familia se puede superar cualquier obstáculo sin importar el tamaño que tenga» y esto me da mucha confianza en el futuro porque sé que jamás estaré sola.
They are my brothers: Andy who is the youngest of the litter and still lives in Venezuela and Héctor the oldest of all who lives in the United States. Both are aware of our mother too, in the same way as the rest of the family. Without a doubt, what is said here is true: «When there is love in the family, any obstacle can be overcome regardless of its size» and this gives me a lot of confidence in the future because I know that I will never be alone.
También la vida me ha regalado familia que, aunque no es de sangre ni crecimos juntos desde pequeños, el vínculo que nos une va mucho más allá de la amistad, y de ellos tambien quiero contarles.
Life has also given me a family member that, although it is not blood and we did not grow up together since we were little, the bond that unites us goes far beyond friendship, and I also want to tell you about them.

Todos ellos han recorrido gran parte del camino a mi lado, dándome los mejores consejos yun brazo fuerte para cuando he quedado sin fuerzas para levantarme, y déjenme decirles que esto no tiene precio. Contar con personas que sin importar donde estemos, están a un mensaje o a una llamada de distancia cuando los necesito, nunca están ocupados para mí y siempre tienen la mejor sonrisa para motivarme a reír con ellos cuando las lágrimas quieren aparecer. También están mis más bellos tesoros: Mis hijos, los cuales quiero mostrarles a continuación:
All of them have come much of the way by my side, giving me the best advice and a strong arm for when I have run out of strength to get up, and let me tell you that this is priceless. Having people who no matter where we are, are just a text or phone call away when I need them, they are never too busy for me and they always have the best smile to motivate me to laugh with them when the tears want to come. There are also my most beautiful treasures: My children, which I want to show you next:

Ellos son la historia más hermosa que el destino escribió en mi vida y soy feliz cuando ellos lo son. Hace ya más de tres años que estamos lejos y me hacen tanta falta que estoy haciendo lo necesario para volverlos a ver en persona. Claro que hablo con ellos por video llamadas, pero déjenme decirles que no es lo mismo; No hay forma alguna que ese vacío que siento pueda ser llenado con una llamada porque solo quiero abrazarlos y que sientan que son muy valiosos para mí.
La mayor de todos es Luisa, practica e independiente pero siempre recurre a mí para contarme esas cosas que a nadie más se atreve a contar. Nunca la juzgo, solo la escucho y comparto con ella mis pensamientos para que ella misma tome una decisión. Estoy orgullosa de ella porque ha aprendido a lograr las metas que se propone tanto como emprendedora como en cuidar su salud y su estética.Jackie por el contrario, es la más dócil y dulce persona que he conocido. Siempre conversamos dos veces al día... en la mañana y en la noche terminando con la frase de siempre: "Te amo, mom". Su creatividad se hace sentir como diseñadora gráfica audiovisual y como hija, que a pesar de la distancia, siempre se hace presente en complicidad con mi esposo, para enviarme detalles en los días importantes. El último de todos es Douglas, contador público que por la situación país, tuvo que emigrar a los Estados Unidos recién graduado. En este sentido estoy tranquila porque ellos están bien, pero nada puede llenar ese vacio que como mamá siento al no poder estar donde ellos están.
They are the most beautiful story that destiny wrote in my life and I am happy when they are. I have been away from my country for more than three years and I miss them so much that I am doing what is necessary to see them again in person. Of course, I talk to them by video calls, but let me tell you that it is not the same; There is no way that that emptiness I feel can be filled with a call because I just want to hug them and make them feel that they are very valuable to me.
The oldest of all is Luisa, practical and independent but she always turns to me to tell me those things that no one else dares to tell. I never judge her, I just listen to her and share my thoughts with her so she can make a decision herself. I am proud of her because she has learned to achieve the goals that she sets for herself both as an entrepreneur and in taking care of her health and her aesthetics. Jackie, on the other hand, is the most docile and sweet person I have ever met. We always talk twice a day... in the morning and at night ending with the usual phrase: "I love you, mom". Her creativity is felt as an audiovisual graphic designer and as a daughter, who despite the distance, she is always present in complicity with my husband, to send me details on important days. The last of all is Douglas, a public accountant who, due to the country's situation, had to emigrate to the United States after graduating. In this sense, I am calm because they are fine, but nothing can fill that emptiness that as a mother I feel not being able to be where they are.

Y por último y no menos importante, mi compañero de aventuras con quien he vivido los moments más emocionantes de mi vida. Un ser que llena todos mis espacios y me motiva siempre a seguir adelante. Emprendedor, entusiasta, siempre positivo ante la vida anda siempre buscando la forma de hallar una salida, y dicho en sus propias palabras «Si no existe un camino, he nacido para crearlo» y por quien ahora vivo en este país por demás hermoso llamado Chile.
Muchos planes en mente pero enfocado constantemente en uno; Su plan B está preparándolo pero enfocado en el plan A, cambiando solo las strategies que no le funcionan. Ávido lector de libros de crecimiento personal y ha sido mi motivator para emprender este maravilloso viaje de la lectura. Claro, como todo ser humano tiene sus defectos, pero son muchas más las virtudes que mantiene y hacen que lo demás sea algo en lo que ni siquiera me pongo a pensar.
Seguramente, lo habrán leído en alguna ocasión porque es de quien he aprendido a contar historias... mis historias con aciertos y resultados no deseados, pero que al final es la historia de mi vida en cualquier parte del mundo donde estemos.
A él, le agradezco infinitamente por mostrarme el camino hacia un mundo mejor lleno de infinitas oportunidades de éxito y cosas buenas, las cuales me invita a compartir con aquellos que me rodean. And last but not least, my adventure partner with whom I have lived the most exciting moments of my life. A being that fills all my spaces and always motivates me to move forward. Enterprising, enthusiastic, always positive about life, he is always looking for a way to find a way out, and in his own words «If there is no path, I was born to create it» and for whom I now I live in this beautiful country called Chile.
Many plans in mind but constantly focused on one; His plan B is preparing him but focused on plan A, changing only the strategies that don't work for him. An avid reader of personal growth books and has been my motivator to embark on this wonderful journey of reading. Sure, like every human being he has his flaws, but there are many more virtues that he maintains and make the rest something that I don't even think about.
Surely, they have read it at some time because it is from whom I have learned to tell stories... my stories with successes and undesirable results, but in the end, it is the story of my life in any part of the world where we are.
I am infinitely grateful to him for showing me the path to a better world full of infinite opportunities for success and good things, which he invites me to share with those around me. Awww, sweet sentiment about Ray! Not sure I could be that far away from my kids?
It hasn't been easy all this time living so far away, but I'm already making plans to travel to Venezuela to see them. We are thinking of going to live in the United States or Canada.
