Silent Battle / Тиха битва

How would you describe a lizard? Is it fast and active or slow and lazy? The paradox is that (as for me) that both are true. When nothing threatens it, the lizard may not move for a very long time, sitting in the sun. So it replenishes energy reserves.

But there is a danger, and its movements are so fast that sometimes you only have time to hear the sound.

Як би ви охарактеризували ящірку? Вона швидка і активна чи повільна і лінива? Парадокс у тому, що мені здається, що і те, і те правда. Коли ніщо їй не загрожує, ящірка може не рухатись дуже довго, сидячи на осонні. Так вона поповняє запаси енергії.

Але варто з'явитись небезпеці, і її рухи такі швидкі, що іноді встигаєш лише почути звук.

These two lizards have nothing to share on this forked tree. Maybe (considering the period when the photos were taken) they call it flirting or courtship?

Ці дві ящірки щось не поділити на цьому роздвоєному дереві. Чи може (зважаючи на період, коли були зроблені фото) у них це зветься заграванням чи залицянням?

Whatever it was, I wouldn't have had a chance to notice them if my husband wasn't there. To give me a sign while I was busy with the landscape, he whispered as loudly as he could. And yet I managed to sneak up before the lizards decided that win isn't so important if the winner could be eaten (or what else is the lizard's fear).

In short, they both fled at the speed of a comet, before I, with the grace of an elephant, tried to sneak even closer. Only the tail came out in the frame.

Anyway, it was a lucky shot for me.

Як би там не було, у мене не було б шансів їх запримітити, якби не мій чоловік. Щоб дати мені якийсь знак, поки я була зайнята краєвидом, він шепотів так голосно, як міг. І я все таки встигла підкрастись до того, як ящірки вирішили, що не так вже й важлива перемога, якщо переможця можуть з'їсти (чи чого там ще боїться ящірка).

Словом, вони обидві утекли зі швидкістю комети, перш ніж я із граціозністю слоника спробувала підкрастись ще ближче. У кадрі вийшов лише хвіст.
