It's been said that the house at Murder Hill is the most haunted house in New England. The stories of supernatural phenomena and violent deaths that have occurred there have terrified residents for generations. But in the early 2000s, the elegant Federal-style manor was home to a different kind of horror: murder. In this podcast, recorded live at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, host and paranormal investigator Max Holland unravels the mysteries of Murder Hill, exploring the dark history of the manor and the bizarre deaths that have befallen its inhabitants and visitors over the centuries.

This podcast features three episodes per day on WNET Radio with Max Holland, who has appeared on all eight shows of WNET's Nightly News Channel. These broadcasts will begin with Max taking viewers through his journey into the mysteries of the Haunted House. During each episode, you'll receive a brief overview of the series. You'll also get an opportunity to ask questions about how the investigation and the podcast work.

The first episode will feature the haunting that took place in the Manor, followed by two additional episodes featuring the murders, and a third showing the haunting of the manor itself. Max has set up a room for viewers during the interviews in order to allow them to participate directly in the haunting of the mansion.

The second episode focuses on the history of the building, as well as some of the recent events associated with it. After the interviews are completed, you'l get the chance to talk with Max about the case further.

The final episode will follow up on the ghost sightings that have taken place here since before Max was born. This story will conclude with more details about the mystery surrounding the manor, along with interviews with several local residents regarding their experiences with the house and their fears, and other paranormal topics.

The House at Murder Hill

Welcome to The Ghost Report! My name is Maxwell Holland, and I'm your host tonight. Tonight, I'll be discussing one of my favorite unsolved murders, involving an innocent woman named Rebecca Walker. Unfortunately, she was amongst the many persons whom were murdered in the infamous Blue Bell Hill, Kent Manor. Or as we in the horror fan-base like to call it: The House at Murder Hill.

My partner in crime is Neil Knoedel, the author of the haunting series. Neil's main interest is researching the case from every possible angle, both scientific and occult. He also takes the time to investigate and write down any new information he can find. We've come very far, but we'll need to be careful not to miss anything, no matter what the facts may look like.

Now, if you're familiar with the legend of Murder Hill, then you probably already know how the story goes: In the year, 1896, a young woman by the name of Rebecca Walker, moved into an old manor with her husband in Blue Bell Hill but unfortunately, just after mere weeks of living in the house, the couple where found dead with Rebecca's body laying lifeless on an arm chair and her husband, mutilated and stuffed in their chimney. Quite bizzare huh?

Of course, a suspicion of foul play had been aroused by the community and so immediately, a case was opened up for investigation at the police station - a case that will go on to become one of the most bizarre and mysterious incidents ever recorded in history.

Unfortunately though, even after several months of thorough investigation, the police were never quite able to crack the case nor did they even manage to get a suspect. Then alas, after two more months of investigation, the case was brought to a close. However, months even after the case had been closed, there were still various rumors circulating around the community regarding the murder case.

One of the more speculative rumors expressed amongst community members, involved a possible eye witness whom might've been present during the day of the murder. This person became known around the community as the "Watcher." Since then, countless people have claimed they saw something in the Blue Bell Hills, or that they heard the sounds of screaming. Most have even described seeing the manor in a strange glow; however, this was just the beginning of the many gruesome tragedies to come. Turns out, and this might just be common superstition, that when the couple died... they left a heavy curse on the house.

About a century later, the once controversial and mysterious manor, had now been transformed into some type of Haunted House attraction for the public to experience at a fee. But unfortunately, in the year of 2001, a very gruesome incident happened in the house that left the world, yet again, in awe and fear.

On October 8th 2001, in what was now known as the The House at Murder Hill haunted house attraction, a record number of 2500 guests where scheduled to go in for what the organizers called: A special edition, haunted house experience. The fee, of course, was tripled due to the uniqueness of the expedition but, this did not at all bother the many enthusiastic visitors whom were present that day.

The haunted attraction welcomed batches of 25 people each at a time and for a while, everything was going quite well. But, ere long, things began to take a turn for the worse when the 86th batch of guests were let in at around 6:30pm. The group comprised of men, women, and children, whom were led into the horror house by a mysterious tour guide. Naturally, as it is with most haunted attractions, there would always be these routine jump up scares done by hired actors and performers which will often lead the visitors to let out a slight shriek in fear. But however, at exactly 6:55pm, both the organizers and the people who waiting outside were met with the loudest and most horrifying shriek they had ever heard from right there inside the manor.

The story goes that upon hearing those terrifying screams, the organizers effectively took action and ended the tour completely, leaving just the performers and visitors in the house. But something very bizzare soon happened next: as the organizers outside tried opening all the doors and secret pathways available in order to get into the house, they found them all sealed shut. Confused by what was happening, the organizers then began calling the rest of the crew that were inside but to no avail, the line didn't go through.

By this time, the shrieking coming from inside the manor had become so unbearable that, the organizers had no choice but to start breaking the doors and windows down. And so, with battling rams on ground, they broke through the various doors and entrances and quickly moved inside the house. But once they got inside, what they saw was absolutely horrifying:

Now guys, it is believed that a woman from the visitors waiting outside, had secretly snuck in with the rescue into the manor, and upon seeing the dreadful scene in there, she ran out of the manor screaming:

"They're dead! They're all dead! They're heads are gone! They're arms are gone! Run for your life!!"

Naturally, this message sent the crowd into a frenzy and they all fled and left the place in fear and distress. Unfortunately, it turns out that when the rescue team had previously charged into the manor, looking for the source of the shrieking; they were met with a gruesome murder scene. On the floor laid the bodies of the victims whom had all been severed off their arms and heads. About 34 of them, including the performers, were reported to have been found decapitated with severed off arms. However, only one woman was found still intact, as she sat lifeless on the same arm chair that the once deceased Rebecca Walker, was found dead on 100 years ago.

Infact, they say the murder scene was so gruesome that the police and press blatantly refused to realease any photos of the incident to both the public and the relatives if the deceased. However, just days after the incident had happened, an unexplained photo was leaked by an unknown source to the public.

Now feast your eyes, as I will now show you an actual footage taking by one of the visitors from inside the manor, just moments before the murder occured:

At first this image may appear normal, just like your average everyday manor photo but, upon circling out a particular spot on the picture, we see something much more ominous:

Some say the picture is nothing but an image glitch and others say, it is the form of an evil entity – most likely the spirit of Rebecca or the very same one that killed her.

You guys let me know what you believe. See ya on the next episode of the The House at Murder Hill.

This is Maxwell Holland, signing
out!

Thanks for reading and keep exploring!

I loved the unique angle that you approached this from, it made for a very satisfying, far more interesting journey. The fun, pace and style helped too as sometimes anything ghost orientated can be a little staid and slow

Those images were pretty damn cool too, there's something authentic yet slightly psychedelic about them. Don't get me wrong, it's not nearly as creative as superimposing your head on to each of the Spice Girls... Jus sayin' 😁

I am in no doubt about the spectre like apparition captured...

It WAS Rebecca!

Why thank you, I wanted to take a much more different approach to this horror story. I believe I incorporated a pretty nice blend of Second person and Third person narrative in here.

Oh heck no! You can't even compare the two. Super imposing heads on Spice girl pics is on a whole nother level! That can't even be argued with.

Either Rebecca... Or Rebecca's entity killer. Well, we'll probably find out more in the next episode.

You're super creative and should start writing horror scripts for Netflix production as what they are producing these days is something else entirely which I really don't see as horror. Your images are lovely I must say and add to the story making me feel the whole horror thing. I had I zoom in on the images to see whatever apparition was in the circled spot while my heart beat kept pumping louder. Jeez! I'm home alone 😭🥶

Gee, for real? I don't know if I'm there yet but uhm... Thanks for the compliment though!

Haha... Netflix do be producing a lot of trashy and overly CGI'd stuffs these days huh?

Why thank you, I wanted the images to add to the tension. Ha! I can imagine your fears.

Thanks for stopping by @teknon and I do hope you come by again for the next episode.
