Zeke Thoughts - Power, Pain and Decisions

zekethoughtsmusic.jpg

A post a day is what I strive for so there are only so many themes I can feature on a weekly basis. #ThoughfulDailyPost makes the cut because is inclusive and fun as positivity is best when shared. @wesphilbin waves the flag for us and has created @thoughtfulposts as the curation account to whom we have delegated to boost its power to reward thoughtful posts.

I invite you to pen your post and share in my musings and the loosely-related music I would pair with each.

Power

Marie Forleo https://www.marieforleo.com/ is an entrepreneur, writer, philanthropist and an unshakable optimist dedicated to helping you become the person you most want to be. What could be better than that?

I remember being hit by the notion that the universe doesn't care about the balance on your credit card or the number on your paycheque anywhere as much as whether or not you helped a worm escape a puddle and survive. I imagine the constant battle economic I happily wage with the goal of providing a nice lifestyle for my family and loved ones. That whole pursuit pales in comparison to having helped a spider escape our home and set up shop in the shed.

This quote helps my conclusion shopping when justifying the fulfillment I get doing easy stuff like treating the squirrels like babies or dogs when they dash for the street when I am driving. It also helps inspire me on my quest to positively impact people I interact with every day. All magnanimous inferences aside, there are potentially dozens of opportunities delivered to us daily to make a positive impact on people. Why not take advantage of that and lift others up? Might mean little more than nothing. Could mean everything!

I am a big fan of hoser band Triumph and recognizing the magic power in each of us.

Pain

Pema Chödrön https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pema_Ch%C3%B6dr%C3%B6n is an American Tibetan Buddhist. She is an ordained nun, former acharya of Shambhala Buddhism and disciple of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Chödrön has written several dozen books and audiobooks, and is principal teacher at Gampo Abbey in Nova Scotia. Tibetan Buddhism seems like such an ancient and enriched enlightenment to me and this quote seems so anciently insightful when you consider the battles from a couple hundred years ago compared to the ones we fight now.

A a jiu jitsu practitioner of 10 years, punishment has become a norm, even as a recreational practitioner. These words seem to echo as an augmentation to the notion that, 'You win or you learn.' I am a bit of a broken record when it comes to that quote as is has helped me to try boldly and fail with less trauma as a competitive person. What I think about most is that the training sessions which result in me getting punished by my training partners (which happens quite frequently) and the fact that this pain is not a punishment. My best training sessions where I am lucky enough to ply my tactics and strategy and be successful is not necessarily a reward as I may be winning but not learning. I train to learn. We all should.

Pain may be evidence of learning which is essential for progression. Pleasure may result from being proven right but that is only a reward when you turn it into the next failure/learning moment.

Pain and Pleasure by the Metal Gods!

Decisions

I love the debate between talent/aptitude being inherited as opposed to learned. For example, a standout athlete is said to have been a result of a genetic anomaly and not a learned behaviour. While it seems to be mutually exclusive, I believe there is a bit of predetermined, and a bit of sheer will.

I think of the families I know where they are all cut from the same cloth. Then, others seem to have the all start or the black sheep. I am partial to the persuasion that we create what we become because of AND despite what we start as. I am a figurative champion of the human spirit and truly believe the magic happens when we find the inspiration to become something we haven't been. Decisions, along with circumstances that we experience as individuals, really define where we are now. Believing this, we are empowered to change how we will be in the future by how we react to each situation we are faced with. Just thank your parents either way.

Closing again with some classic hoser wisdom that brings us closer to the heart.

This movement continues to gain momentum and now as it is being curated by @thoughtfulposts to whom I have delegated some #hive https://hive.blog/introduceyourself/@thoughtfulposts/thoughtfulposts-introduction-or-a-thoughtfuldailypost is where you can get the details and please consider delegating to help make positivity extra rewarding.

I invite you to pen your own #thoughtfuldailypost any day of the week and spill your wisdom on the world via the blockchain.

Every age there is a stage, some endure conflict while next may be poverty, keeping positive shows through the ages with authors/artists sharing the art of thoughtfulness and kindness bestowed upon each other.

Imagine a world where everyone was grumpy, only looking at the negative, we would not have existed as long as we have!

Yah imagine that!

Seems like misery loves company and the media loves to spread that around. Leaders stay positive and the smart ones gather on the blockchain!

Growth is painful and that's why many people aren't even trying

Indeed. You really have to value progress in order to subject yourself to the pain of challenge. Pain is a good thing!

Good stuff!
I had a rough few days but reading your words did make me feel better. I was reminded of how it is all about choices.
So my goal today is getting out of the slump, and if the sun comes out , I may get lucky and hit a homer😜😊

Enjoy your day
