The Weekly Zekely - Food, Drinks, Music and Life!

zeke.jpg

Here we are with your weekly episode covering some of my exploits and the stories that come with them. I like to take a look back to reflect on a week's memories and experiences and share with the Hive community for conversation and crypto rewards. It's not rocket surgery but hopefully it entertains a few folks around the world.

This week appears to have been made of food and drinks and music! Let's see what else...

Food!

Know what one of the benefits of having a good game promoting local restaurants? The food! We work with local Indian restaurant https://rajastratford.ca, which has been in business 15 years in this small town, with the same owner. Loving the food and being the target market makes it easier and much tastier for us as we get to photograph, sample and tell stories about these dishes.

Hopefully you are reading your Zekely mid morning at work and have as great an Indian restaurant you can visit at lunch! You are welcome.

Drink!

Along those lines, it is also pretty rewarding to have a new bar as a client as well. I mentioned my friends at https://bar-bq.ca last week as well but this week it is Dave who gets the spotlight.

Sure the bites menu is solid and scrumptious. They are polishing their game and angling for a grand opening with live music next weekend. I really should jump into the 3speak game and vlog or live stream some of that fun. But this is about drinks!

The food is great southern bbq for sure but this post is about the cocktails! I actually designed this menu and stuffed it with stock images so they had something for the soft opening. I should post the finished version when we get around to that but there are some neat beverages. I love the Creole-zar which is their gumbo-inspired turn on a Caesar and features a garnish which is a cube of smoked pork belly.

Bravo to new restaurants brave enough to open in this era and entrepreneurs returning to that spirit to keep themselves open during tough times!

Music!

IMG_3095.jpg

One of the funny things about this photo is that it was taken probably less than an hour from when I took the one of Dave. This is Jack and Andy from Jack and the Hartbeat playing some tunes at a local brewery (https://heritagehops.ca which also happens to be a client) as if there was no covid times! So great to see the real musicians kept their chops and are ready to jump back into performing outdoor, then eventually indoor shows again! Andy is demonstratively happy and Jack is concentrating on his riff. I was simply trying to capture the moment with HOPE as close to the center of the picture as possible.

Cheers to beer and music!

This is another venue (https://revival.house also a client?!?!?) a couple nights later from my perspective behind the bar. Folks who have tunes into the last few Zekelies have hear the tale of me acting as special guest bartender at the fanciest place in town. I heeded the call again for a private function for one of the accounting firms in town (who will remain unlinked until they are a client!) and there was live music as well as craft beer on tap. The band is a tribute to the Tragically Hip which is a well-guarded national treasure.

Now that I think of it, this is a week later and the band is a Crosby, Stills Nash & Young cover band. Both great acts and I found myself enjoying the live harmonies and singing along through my mask as I poured hundreds of drinks. Funny thing is I get the call for these gigs with short notice and only discover what the night's entertainment when I get there.

Here's to full on live concerts again!

Doggo

I will have to admit I like this fuzzy little ball of energy more than I should seeing as how allergic I am to him. So much so that I even braved the cold November rain (Guns & Roses anyone?) to take him for an epic walk you can read about here https://hive.blog/hive-193552/@zekepickleman/actifit-zekepickleman-20211122t022013621z

The weather is turning a little colder and damper with regular frost and even a dusting of snow. I have spent enough winters in Canadia and know we are in for a few months of weather ranging from chilly to fuckin' freezin'. For now, it is wavering between not back and I should live in Mexico so you take the chances to enjoy the mild stuff while it lasts.

He couldn't understand why spending an hour climbing through every muddy trail and riverbank resulted in being carried right up to the tub when we got home. All he wanted to do was run around the house and play with his hoomanz and I just wrestled him in warm water til he was clean. What a life.

Beer!

Here is a spoiler for a beer I may use as the Pint of the Week for #beersaturday. I can't give too much away but there is mango, and I have to mention beer in each post to uphold my Blockchain Beerologist designation.
