Biweekly Zekely - No moss on this stone!

Sometimes, it is weekly, others, it is biweekly...way she goes. It has been a couple busy weeks so now we dive into the camera roll live and see what I got up to.

Community

IMG_2136.jpg

We started the week working with the local multicultural association https://maph.ca, which have linked because it is good for client SEO! A brand new restaurant https://www.9teenmuni.com/ immediately wanted to give back to the community and knew where to come. We arranged meals for a family of newcomers for a nice Sunday evening treat. I paused since to wonder what it would be like to find a home across the world, and have a bunch of food (generally served at the golf course) delivered for free by a bunch of strange locals. Hopefully they enjoyed it and more restaurants step up and give back to the community despite the challenging times for hospitality businesses.

Business Excellence Awards

Next up was a cool annual event with the local chamber of commerce. Except for last year, for obvious reasons, the business leaders gather for the Chamber of Commerce https://www.stratfordchamber.com/ Business Excellence Awards. It is a fantastic events for recognition and networking with other business owners. This year, our company Town Crier Marketing https://towncriermarketing.ca @town-crier was nominated in the entrepreneurship category. An incredible bit of recognition for the effort we have put in with the other business owners over a tough couple years. Can't stop us an we are just getting started so we strive to be back here soon!

Food!

IMG_2184.jpg

Late summer is such a perfect time of year up north where spring lingers and autumn arrives too soon. One of the best ways to celebrate the last weeks of summer is a meal on the patio of a locally-owned restaurant. I have been a huge fan of Indian food for decades and we are blessed locally with one of the best I have ever discovered...and I have been to India! https://rajastratford.ca is not only owned by one of the nicest guys you will meet, it boasts so many dishes that it is hard for me to select one each time I go. This was a business meeting after a lunch with my better half. So, I earned money as well as Wifepoints© while enjoying some Dansak and Veggie Bhajee. Seriously I can still taste this awesome picture.

Martial Arts

IMG_2226.jpg

Martial arts training has been 40 miles of bad road over the last couple years. When you consider the proximity issues with a grappling discipline, it gets even worse. With the on-again-off-again lockdowns and shifting provincial guidelines, you can imagine how great it was to get back to regular training. We are barely there and our academy arranges a seminar lead by a world champion. When it is the national leader of our family of academies, you take the opportunity to award belt upgrades. I can count a half dozen new belts in this picture, including my brand new brown belt.

I will have more Jiu Jitsu adventures in coming weeks as I have a 10-day Mexico trip to attend in October. It will be epic I promise.

BEER!

IMG_2285.jpg

You just know The Blockchain Beerologist is gonna showcase a beer to tease the next #beersaturday post. Here is the last one for your viewing pleasure https://hive.blog/beersaturday/@zekepickleman/beer-saturday-222-muggles-cottage-beer-and-beer-art. This one is a serious New England IPA from https://www.jobsitebrewing.ca/ I have to spend some time with my friend who runs the place to get the story behind this beer before this Saturday's post. 'Til then, these guys are getting good at hazy pale ales!

Gardening!

IMG_2284.jpg

https://hive.blog/gardenhive/@zekepickleman/the-pickleman-family-garden-early-autumn-blooms is probably the largest paying post I have ever published on the #hive blockchain. This place and the community never ceases to amaze me. I can pour my life into creating crazy white guy adventures, telling strange Canadian stories and combine 6 posts into each blog, and pictures of the resilient flowers hanging on despite the colder northern temperatures becomes my greatest hit.

Seriously the #gardening community and all the fabulous people I have met here are worth checking out. Long live #gardenhive and #homesteading on the blockchain.

The Puppies

IMG_2299.jpg

I have to end this one off with a little puppy love. We recently added a new brittany spaniel to the family in anticipation of the old one buying the farm. The old lady on the left is 15 years old when the expiry date on this brand is probably 14 years. The one on the right is maybe 15 weeks and is a handful for all of us.

It started as a wise decision on my part to bring in a new emotion sponge before the old one checked out. He may be speeding her into the grave with his energy and passion for playing. Either way, the new guy has been a blessing and I love my dogs.....when they don't steal my chair.

Thanks for checking in. Perhaps I can get back to weekly Zekelies at some point. 'Til then, enjoy the double shot!

congrats on the nomination, you've worked hard for that. Great update, you've been busy. BTW a reminder, just week to go before PYPT returns.

Oh yah!

I swear half of the networking I have done here over the years was through PYPT and the friends made there!
