Previously MetaMask had enabled payments via bank transfers.

The international service for digital payments, PayPal, announced a partnership with blockchain solutions developer ConsenSys, which will enable its integration with MetaMask, the popular wallet for web browsers and smart devices.

According to information published in a press release and disseminated by CoinDesk, the alliance between PayPal and ConsenSys will allow MetaMask users to integrate the service as a payment method for the purchase of ETH, the native digital currency of the Ethereum network.

Regarding this alliance, ConsenSys product manager Lorenzo Santos said:

This integration with PayPal will allow our users in the U.S. to not only purchase cryptocurrencies seamlessly through MetaMask, but also to easily explore the Web3 ecosystem.

According to ConsenSys, the integration is already available as of today, but will be rolled out progressively to reach all interested parties in the U.S. in the coming days.

To enable PayPal payments through MetaMask, please follow the steps below:

  • Login to MetaMask.
  • Click on the Buy button, then select the 'PayPal' option.
  • Indicate the amount in dollars you wish to invest to pay for the equivalent ETH. Then the user will be redirected to PayPal to log in.
  • Make the payment through PayPal, or if you have ETH in your account you can transfer it directly to MetaMask.
