WEEKEND Meetup! We visit the Sustainability Institute in Stellenbosch and meet up with some other Hivers!

It is not a usual thing for me to be able to post about a Weekend Experience ON the weekend! I did manage to make this post though!

Not only did @clairemobey and I manage to go out and have a little outing, but we managed to do a bit of a meetup with @fermentedphil and @urban.scout at The Sustainability Institute!

The Sustainability Institute does research, has an Eco Village, schools, a green cafe and gardens on the Premises.

We were there for the event of a book launch: Cape Wild Foods: A Cooks Guide by Loubie Rusch.

@fermentedphil invited me to come along. Meeting him and @urbanscout face to face was at least 50% of our reason to go there!

We listened to the premise and concepts of the book which was basically about being able to grow or forage indigenous edible foods and then cook with them.

Using indigenous plants means that they are a lot more suitable to the local environment and have less of an ecological impact on the environment. This links up to a LOT of other sustainability concepts such as self-sustainability and shortening the supply chain between producers and consumers.

All in all, it was a lovely outing from Table View to Stellenbosch and we ate a bunch of green leafy things and learned a thing or two!

Widening the Hive circle and meeting our other Hive friends was great too! We shall braai!

Absolutely! Great meeting you. We will organize a braai sometime with you guys as well as @therneau and @jusipassetti! (We just had a braai last night! lol)
