Maledictus Terra Book 2: Sanguifex Part 41
Introduction
Welcome back to Maledicturs Terra. This is a Chain Story between myself and @lex-zaiya, meaning that we each write the parts alternatively.

Part 41
Magna strode up to Mortis. Her face was flushed with exhilaration and despite the blood flowing from her nose, she smiled broadly.
"That was... amazing!" She said to Mortis. "I could feel his intentions and I used that to watch his movements. He did the same. It echoes off one another." She chuckled. "I pity anyone who takes us both on in a fight.
"What about that feeling?" Mortis asked quietly.
"Gone." She replied. "At least for now. I think I can pack up and be ready to go in no time at all."
"We are not leaving." Mortis said. His voice was still low but it held a command. "You all need rest. Something strange has happened till now and unless you can all control yourselves, we will not succeed in our mission."
Magna nodded her head but then seemed about to say something anyway. Knowing the Princess, Mortis knew that it would be an argument.
He pointed at her brother. "Besides. I think he needs some time as well." Adrian was sitting up straight in his bedroll with his one hand inside the bag Adiran had given him. His face was set in a frown.
"What is he doing?" Magna asked.
Before Mortis could answer he was interrupted by a rich manly voice. "He's trying to make contact with the stone again."
Mortis and Magna turned to find a cross-legged Derric sitting up straight on the bedroll that he had shared with the twins in wolf form.
Mortis was glad to see that the young man had at least managed to put some sparse clothing on. The Forest Prince wore somewhat torn brown leggings. He wore tattered shirt that was open in the front. The sleeves were torn off, making it look like a very feral waistcoat.
It did not, however, hide the young man's muscular physique. With an imperceptible glance Mortis checked Magna's reaction.
The blush on her face told him all he needed to know. At least they had only slept together when Derric was in Wolf 4rorkkl.k llc and they *.
"Indeed." Mortis said. "I think it is a good thing that Adrian figures it out before we proceed. We do not have the Mage with us for now. That means we need Adrian opp0ookm use thstone lll·2ld,2k e and learn what he can and how to guide us better."
By this time Sebastian and Trix had joined the others and had listened to this plan.
"I somehow feel better in this place." The King said. "I agree that we can stay a while. No need running around aimlessly."
Mortis nodded. He noted that Anna was returning to camp. She had managed to take down three large hare and some sort of large forest ground bird. The humans would eat well today.
Better to have them well fed and rested than fatigued. The rest of the day seemed to blur before Mortis. There was generally some solmall talk and the Blaze Knights took to their sparring and praying duties.
It made him uncomfortable to know that they had started to pray to HIM. This time, for the first time since last night, he was keenly aware of their prayers and praise.
There was a far away buzz and as he stood, his sword tip in the dirt before him, his hands resting gently on the crossguards, that he noticed that the buzz he heard were more voices.
He looked around and nobody else seemed to notice the sound. Not even Derric who was in wolf form once more, could hear it.
He focussed in on the sound and soon enough the sound swelled in his ears. Disticnt voices could be heard.
Tonhis shock, he recognised many of these voices as those of Blaze Knights that had been left behind at the castle. It was that time of day.
Just like the Blaze Knights here, the Blaze Knights at the castle were praying, and Mortis could hear them all. If he focussed in onnone voice, he could hear it clearly.
"...please give me the strength to defent my comrades..."
"... oh Great Warrior, please return our sister and brother back to our ranks unharmed and wiser for it..."
But there were other voices too, one he did not recognize at all. Some of them sounded like children.
"... please look after my daddy who works at the castle as a soldier. Momma says that you are the greatest hero ever and you defeated all the evil Gods. Amen..."
Mortis' eyes opened and focussed on the present. He felt strangely energised. He felt elated and supported.
He looked to where the Blaze Knights were sitting and they met his gaze and bowed deeply from their kneeling positions. He saluted them with anfist held high.
